to be honest i didn't even understand what you said.really. why not?
It's just his "I vow to protect the earth from anything untill the day I die and never kill" attitude and how DC decides to give him various upgrades (or make his alt/future versions uber powerful). His sense of fashion isn't very good either, but that's common in comics.

so being a superhero is what's wrong with him?

Well good I didn't think you understood what jock meant over here in the states. He doesn't like him because he's your typical goody too shoes type hero.
i do. i just don't see it as much of a positive attribute.
good superheroes are necessary. or else everyone would be anti-heroes or villains.

How many superheroes receive amps like Superman does? he goes from being a herald level character to being a nigh omnipotent. That's like House of M, but for Superman... The thing is they keep on doing it and doing it. Him being 'perfect (or perceived as such) ' is another subject that bugs me. Too goody 2 shoes for my taste.

he has higher than herald feats. so does hulk, surfer, thor, green lantern, flash etc.
superman is still high herald.
perfect? in what sense?

You are right but many people don't care for good heroes which is his point and my own. I do like good heroes such as Thor just never cared for Superman.
@pr you didn't say it... But in a kind of indirect slap to the face you compared him to underwear
Superman is as stale a character as Thor is... Both come to earth and vow to protect it and are basically gods among men...
They are the deus ex machine needed not solve any given situation...
But to conservative people who like good old American values an simple things like apple pie the characters it their upbringing...
Personally I think wolverine is more stale than superman... But I'm not a giant fan of either either....
As far as character development I'd looknto guys like Clint Barton Hank pym etc whose personal struggles make them real... But then again comic books are meant as a form of escapism to get awayfrom our mundane lives...
Oh and speedball as penance looked pretty badass when he got to it. Sado masochist that took it to people when they thought they actually had him on the ropes.

He is a herald, but look at how many amps he and his alt or future versions have gotten over. The Sword, Miracle Machine, Cosmic Armor, Superman One Million, Kismet amp, etc
How many amps like that have the people you mentioned gotten? Parallax and RKT are nothing to his amps/power ups.
Connor Kent (ie Superboy) once said something like this "Nobody's perfect... Well, maybe except for Superman." Then I remember one comic where a machine was somehow created that brought out the dark/evil sides of the members of the Justice League. The line-up was Green Arrow, Superman, Batman, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Black Canary. So the machine was effective on every member I listed... Other than you know who. So, Superman created a green robot (the dark JLAers were green) and pretended that the said robot was the dark aspect of himself in order to encourage the JLA to go and defeat their own dark selves (only the real person could harm his/her dark self). Too goody 2 shoes for my taste.
