The idiot who said "no word of god comes from private interpretation" means it can only be understood by priests or popes doesn't know what he's talking about. The greek says "no word of god comes from the private thoughts of men." which means, no prophesy originates in the mind of men, unless it's put there by god. You papists know nothing of the bible.

How do you tell the difference between an idea rambling through your head, and one placed there by a god?

* I agree with the most… but I like to point out that eventhough we are flawed, perfection can still be attained… all people sinneth… but when people repent - God forgives - sins are covered - perfection is attained, most on God's part… a person cannot just claim he is perfect, that's the reason why Saint Paul wrote the passage on Philippians 3:12, but yes, through God's eyes, Saint Paul revealed they are perfect… in Ecclesiastes 7:20, eventhough all people sinneth, if a person is righteous, he is still righteous in God's eyes… that's why love is a huge factor in attaining perfection because love is the bond of perfection, and love covers multitude of sins…

Well, in a way... it's God's love that covers the sin though. We still sin and have to look at our own flaws and admit to them. The perfection then is God's... not ours.

You can wear the crown Christ has given you, pj, but like the slaves used to repeatedly whisper in the ears of succesfull generals in ancient Rome, when they rode in the capital heading the ceremonial parade, holding a laurel above the victors' heads: YOU ARE JUST A MAN!! I think that's what Paul is saying to you in those verses (lest we boast).

These things usually go very wrong... usually by fanatic believers and fanatic religion haters. Neither of them show themselves as very tolerant or open minded and only seek their own truths and righteousness... So these debates usually don't get anyone anywhere.

You can't, that's the point. If it's in your head, it's not god. If god communicates with you, it's unmistakable. But don't get me wrong, that doesn't happen anymore. He doesn't need to, the book is complete.

Yes, Gone With the Wind is complete.

And so is Star Wars... despite the rumours of another triilogy.

"Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins."
I Peter 4:8

* although the major part that covers sin is God's love, a Christian should also acquire love…

* the perfection attain is through God's eyes, yes I agree… but God perse? God is already perfect…

* <sigh> I never said I am perfect… I'm just telling you that in Christianity, perfection is attainable… in Philippians 3:12, Saint Paul is speaking with humility as a man… but in the succeeding verse:

"Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you:"
Philippians 3:15

* Saint Paul is speaking how God sees a person who is walking in the path of righteousness, as "perfect"… and that is not boasting… one cannot deny the fact that Jesus commanded His followers to be perfect, and used God's perfection as an example or goal:

"You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Matthew 5:48

* it is wrong to boast:

"Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,"
Jeremiah 9:23

* but here is the correct way of boasting:

"But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord."
Jeremiah 9:24

* most debates are… but in forums like this, where the participants don't actually see other, somehow someway, the truth will come out…
