What's really amazing is the hoops some Christians will jump through when it comes to the bible.
Plenty of people say and do wrong things in the bible. Just because someone states something in the bible doesn't mean they are correct, nor are we supposed to do everything they do becaure it's in the bible. This is the root of the problem when atheists don't bother to comprehend the bible before they criticize it. If only you knew how dumb you guys look to people who actually understand the book.

Wow: "But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
Well, that's the english version. What it should say, instead of "fool", he says "Raca", which basically means un-redeemable. It's like saying you're too horrible a person to ever make it to Heaven. It goes back to judging.

Any scientist or logician will be the first to tell you that holding to the idea that the only things in the universe that exist are those that our senses can pick up is a radically flawed line of reasoning.

^^ True,

And for racca, it only means calling someone an idiot and fool. We say worse today.

No. It's litteral meaning is Empty. In the context here as well as it's usage in jewish lit. It means morally empty. Nothing to save. Morally bankrupt with no chance of redemption because there is nothing to save. You can call someone a fool all you want. God does constantly.

Every christian on the forum gives answers in nothing but scripture. It's trying to get them to come up with independent content that's the problem.

That is the point. Any one can work to impress you with their own vanity. Are you trully looking for an answer to a specific question, or would you like to prove what you already believe you know?
Because if you already think Christians lack independence, are you seeking a evidence of why we must use scripture or just evidence to support the belief that we are limited to scripture?

I must say, this thread is awesome. I love the serious and not so serious questions and answers.

Question: why is there talk of baptism for the dead by Paul? I think the best argument is the one about what the word "baptism" means in the various languages.

How do we truly understand the book then? If it's a rule, according to the word of God (which is where the authors were saying they were getting said rules), are you not supposed to follow it? Or only if it makes sense? Please elaborate.
