Who's the smartest/wisest/most intelligent comic character?

My tendency in these intelligence threads (there have been others) is to compare those named to The Doctor (Doctor Who). He has a couple comic titles, but I suppose he's mostly television, so he's likely invalidated from formal discussion here. But he really does make almost everyone named look like 2nd graders. Only the really top tier intelligence guys have feats and tech that can match his. Guys like Reed or Doom might have more tech-building feats to their name, but nobody deciphers completely foreign tech, biology, mathematics, physics, etc. more quickly than The Doctor. So I'd put him at #1 of anyone listed in offhand knowledge and in ability to assimilate new knowledge, but further down the list for tech creation, somewhere around Beast.

Anyway, I'd add him to the list if we're doing indie titles.

are you taking feats from the show, though?

the joker

Him building a room that negated the powers of ANY super powered being (sans himself), and siphoning power from Monarch (without Monarch even knowing) didn't stand out to you?

I forgot about that. 😮

BTW, my vote goes to Metron. Creating an artifact like the Warlogog is probably the single most impressive thing I have ever seen.

Alexander Luthor has that beat, though. Bringing back the MULTIVERSE is extremely impressive, but he hasn't been in much.

Pre-Crisis Brainiac 5 would be next, IMO, tied with such guys as Reed Richards and Dr. Doom.

Next tier would be guys like Brainiac, Will Magnus, TO Morrow, etc...

Yeah, it's all in continuity for him. And he lacks a ton of feats from the comics alone, though he's not without some impressive ones. But he's not in the discussion without his tv appearances.

That's why I said he's probably invalidated from formal discussion here. His genre makes him an illegal character. Technicalities aside, however, I was stating it mostly for the discussion.

so the doctor's intelligence is more the 'understanding complex equations' variety...could he really be superior in that aspect than brainiac...a damn sentient computer?

As staggering as this is going to seem, yes. For example, in a recent episode he wrote a computer virus that reset every digitally displayed number on the planet to zero. But the kicker was, it took him under 10 seconds and he did it from another person's cell phone with no prep. He sees a need and just f--ing does it. That's one among hundreds of similar feats he has. Of course he's stumped from time to time. But more often than not, he's just that damn good.

yes

Most intelligent is hyperstorm
Best tactician is batman
Most knowledable is metron
Best magic user is dr fate
Best all rounder is dr doom

Below skyfather lol. Thanos is round abouts skyfather. But other than that I would say brainiac from that list.

Other I would be split between Metron and Uatu.

Cable is smarter than Bruce Wayne. Just sayin.

I agree with the fanboy (ermmhappy). The Doctor would be an excellent choice -- I just wish his comic feats were equally as impressive as they are in the show.

are we not including the beyonder here

Kang should be the most intelligent because he's happy.

Ultron has been stated to be smarter than Tony and Reed Richards.
😖hifty:

Edit: While we are at it let me add Supremor.

Pre-Crisis Luthor could do that using two cans, a piece of string and a half-used battery and 8 seconds. uhuh

I'm glad someone else mentioned my choice (can always count on Galan).

I'd choose Metron.

This.

Reed has an arsenal capable of destroying celestials...
He once used tech to contact "god"
Compared to the scientist supreme... Even though Hank pym discovered pym particles reed knows more about them than Hank
Reed created tech that allowed the skulls to fool everyone including magicians from detecting

And he has zero common sense a lot of the time. This isn't a "who is the best scientist?" thread.

When the alien being was creating the big bang although he had the power he didn't have the knowledge to create it... Reeds knowledge plus the aliens power created the universe/multiverse? There's an issue where reed learns magic similar to doom just by studying the tomes and the science behind it...

No it's the most intelligent. If I wanted to go with wise I'd look at captain marvel and the wisdom of solomon

Professor Q also deserves a mention. probably the smartest female in comics. At least during Monarchy run.

Analytical intelligence is just one facet of what makes up "intellect". Reed is strong in that area but weak in a lot of others.
