Really good movie, saw it while i was on a cloud so it made things extra intense at times. The masturbation seen was hilarious! A little slow at parts but overall a fantastic flim.

Pretentious garbage, basically all it was. Though I was wrong in my previous statement, there is more to the film than the 3min preview suggest, any of it isn't good.Vincent Cassell did a good role, but that doesn't save the film.
Care to expand on what made it pretentious?

Horribly acted? Umm. I don't even know what to say, Natalie Portman was fantastic, as was the rest of the entire freaking cast.

The psychological aspect of a woman going insane due to being possessed by a dance and transformation from 'light-to-dark' failed horribly. Portman's not a bad actress, but here, it was meh. How many times do we endure that same unconvincing look of desperation? Countless. We get it.
The girl-girl sex scene served no real purpose except as 'look, we have two hot chicks f--king, look.' Which is fine and all, but it is what it is.
So that, film tried to be more than it was and it failed.

if the two of you can't take another person's opinion that is a load of rubbish hahahahaha
Portman is a much better actress than this piece of shiite...
Kunis went to the Megan Fox school of acting..

i didn't pay to see this garbage, i saw it at a screening room
It's times like this I'm at a loss for words. Movies on this forum like ****in' G.I. Joe and Transformers get praised, while quality flicks are being dumped on, I just don't get it.
Rob, your opinion is fair enough - although I think the film didn't fail, it succeeded admirably in conveying what one goes through in trying to attain perfection. And also what happens when someone has years of stifled sexuality, and not just sexuality but freedom in general due to her homelife, career, personality, etc. If you felt a film tried to be more than it was, I'd say that's ambitious, not pretentious but that's just me.
And Natalie Portman WAS fantastic; I can't stress this enough. Not only the physicality of the role (the dancing, losing weight, her form) but we see a huge range of emotions on display - unbridled joy, pure desperation (like Rob said!), rage, madness, pride and an extremely effective portrayal of low self-esteem. I don't think you guys realize what a tough role this was and how well she pulled it off.
Oh and did I mention the score? Mansell knocked it out of the park again.

I would say that a majority on this forum did not praise Transformers nor GI Joe.
