Devil May Cry reboot...

Didn't even play it. But saw the gameplay, acted to much like the slower heavy weapons, like the one in Dante's Inferno. This ones more combat/combo/fast paced from what we've seen.

Dante's Inferno Scythe was pretty fast when leveled up. But Scythes are heavy weapons so it makes sense to be slower than spears.

Regardless of whether it's a reboot, this could be an interesting direction to follow, with the scything

I quite like the look of this game. Still not the bggest fan of this appearance for Dante but it will probably grow on me. It seems Dante has had to fight creatures all his life, they all want a piece of him. Are the worlds he fights in all the same? you would have thought they would have their own defenders in some form or another by now what with their constant attacks yet Dante almost always seems alone.

Also correct me if I am wrong, but is Dantes DT, simply his older form of Dante with his long red coat and white hair?

Well (from the other DMC's) the twins did start training to combat demons when they were kids. A lifetime of combat. IMO it looks like the human world and demon world, with the demon realm distorting the surroundings.
And he pretty much is alone in this. In all of DMC the only other person that can defeat strong demons is Nero (Compare his level to Dante's). Sure there are others like Trish, Lucia, Lady and the Order of the Sword, but they're all pretty weak in the long run (Compare their level to Nero's).

That'd go with what Ninja theory said earlier about this Dante becoming the Dante we knew before.

Speaking with the PlayStation blog at Gamescom, Ninja Theory creative director, Tameem Antoniades, touched upon DmC Devil May Cry and the new Dante, revealing some interesting tidbits about how the game is both similar and different from the previous games.

Last week, we reported that DmC’s Dante is half demon and half angel, but there’s more to his background than that. This Dante is more of a street brawler.

“Growing up in a situation where the demons are out to kill him; society in general, controlled by the demons, is out to crush him; growing up on the streets… So, he’s more of a street brawler,” Antoniades shared about Dante’s background. “His moves are less refined than you would have seen in previous DMCs.”

As far as combat goes, Dante will also spend more time in the air than previous Devil May Cry games, as DmC attempts to expand further on aerial combos. It also has dynamic music that changes as you fight.

“The music responds to your ranking system,” Antoniades revealed, “so the better you play, the more layers of music kick in, and if you get to the top ranks, then the screaming vocals kick in and it kind of affects you when you play, because you know you’re doing well.”

DmC has dynamic environments that distort as you play, switching between the “real” world and the demon world. Sometimes, architecture will distort and block your path. Interestingly, this was the result of an attempt to retain an element from the original Devil May Cry games, which locked you in areas until you defeated all the enemies present.

Finally, fielding a question about Dante’s personality and whether he’s more “green and naive” since he’s younger, Antoniades replied: “I wouldn’t say he’s green and naive, I’d just say he doesn’t give a ****.”

Another, probably final, tweak to Dante's/Tony's new look. And some artwork. Yay artwork~

^ Only things I can see changed is the new necklace (preferred the old one but meh (which appears they've change back to that already..)), more detail on the weapons and edited face and hair.

The 'attitude' and 'heritage' pics here are good pieces of artwork to say the least and show off his character.

Not much in the first trailer besides some scenery and gameplay. The second gives a little more with a minor plot device (the cameras), finally showing Dante's voice and a new, hooded, female character who helps Dante tackle whats going on. His attitude and style are Dante-esk to boot.

Saw somewhere that Dante inherits Angel powers from his parents and Demon powers from a third party; " but the power of angels inherited from parents (Angel powered) and the power of demons (the devil's power ) " may be a translation error, who knows..

Thats weird, i thought it would be the other way around. Demon from parents, angel from third party.

I miss Dante already.

I head this wasnt a reboot and is a prequel... am I wrong?

Honestly I couldn't tell ya..

-Some devs say its a reboot.
-Some devs say its a prequel.
-Main dev said its not before or after the other DMC's timeline.
-Same guy confirmed that he'll become the same Dante from the other DMC's.
-Reuben Langdon (Dante's motion capture, face and voice in DMC3/4) said that DmC is a reboot like how DMC3 was a reboot, and we all know that was the same Dante but with some tweaks, a retcon.
-The only written down word for it is 'rebirth' which can mean reboot or retcon...

I'm 50% sure its a reboot, 30% sure its a retcon and 20% sure that I want to see more of that hooded girl... :I

DMC 3 was a reboot? I thought it was a prequel?? Im confused😕

The more I read up on dmc5 it looks like its going to just be an origin game for dante, which makes me thinks its like DMC3 except just earlier in his life.

So that would make the order of the games Dmc5, dmc3, Dmc 1, Dmc4, Then Dmc2, at least story wise.

That would make the canon even more confused. Though the game's most likely a reboot, set in a completely different universe.

^ Extended version of the trailer BR posted.

At this point in time, I'm starting to think this is the same Dante experiencing some sort of nightmare/twisted reality before DMC3.

Stargun nailed it.

Day 1: New DMC

Day 2: Call it a reboot with a completly new Dante.

Day 3: Call it a prequel saying he will become the same Dante.

Day 4 : Say its a rebirth-prequel and he'll become the same Dante with retcon changes.

Day 5: Finally state that DmC is set in a parallel universe seperate from DMC.

Not sure if they had a fixed idea or if they tried to change it to please the raging fanboys.

Is it just me or does the new Dante look like Taylor Lautner? If so, I think I'm going to be sick.
