Devil May Cry reboot...

Really, really.. not. Been said to look like both Taylor and Robert, either I'm blind or people just link anything to Twilight.

Gameplay has improved from the last time thankfully. I get that NT are just showing these gameplay vids to say "See? The games up to dmc standard. Can you lay off now?" but a story trailer or even hints by now would be fantastic.

Completely agreed, Twi-fagdom is like a disease, it get's every-f**king-where.

And yeah, a story trailer would be nice, at least it would give us cynics something to assess the game by other than artwork and gameplay trailers.

I hate the new dmc because dante now looks like this

the action in this game is amazing looking but im a BIG fan of the original. I even have a replica of Dante's sword from the 3rd game. I HATE how dante looks in this. Changing his appearance was stupid in the first place imo but making him look like an Emo/D-bag was WAY TOOO MUCH. If people like this game then awesome for them but I sadly will not be able to move past this.

Technically they didn't chance his appearance as its not the same Dante.

Besides not looking like Dante, what're the complaints with his new look? Can't see the emo/douchbag as he is now. Pop pop.

the one redeeming thing from this game is that it's "an alternate universe" imo.....

I hate how "new dante" looks.....to me even in those pictures I think he's just plain horrible looking but to each there own. Im not ragging on people who like his look because its awesome they have a difference of opinion but It just looks like crap to me.......

what else really irritates me is the fact he's now got an "angel mode" because his mother is supposedly an angel and his dad is (obviously) a demon. So in this universe he's a hybrid, his looks are just terrible(imo of course), and im pretty certain the game play is around or less then 30 FPS(though the action does look good). The story might be mind blowing good but im not all that interested in it. I might check it out after it hits the $14.99 bin but I still doubt it.

If you get it and play it(and im dead serious) let me know what you think. Tell me about it and the differences and what you liked about it. It might make me wanna play it. As of right now though, I can't stomach it.

I will say im a HUGE fan of the originals but don't go ape crazy like a lot of other fans and I will admit some people do go way over board with this topic. They could just do what I plan on doing....buy the HD collection and not worry about the new one lol

He looks like a hipster douchebag with that douchebag v-neck t-shirt and that hipster haircut.

^ Not a v-neck but.. yeah I'll give you the shirt, but hipster hair? Its not great but its not bad either.

Yeah, a saving grace for DMC fans.

Even when it first came out the only faults I had with the look was the hair [now only half&half with it] and the low necked shirt, cos overall his outfit is like a non-complex version of Nero's.

A demon/angel hybrid does sound cool, but not for Dante who was all about accepting humanity/his human side and getting stronger because of it. It steps on a vital pert of DMC imo. Can you see a difference of the 30fps here to the 60fps in the other games? May be my comp but I don't see it being far off DMC4 in speed and flow.

And yes I'll be sure to post my thoughts asap. Though I'm guessing that the gameplay and visuals will be on the level of DMC4 with the story above any previous game, would be the best DMC if it wasnt for all of its non-DMC qualities.

Gonna have the HD version by my side while playing DmC just in case it turns out to be bad and I need a dose of DMC to help me through it lol

I just don't like anything about this "new dante's" look. I mean every time I see him it feels like he's a homeless thug and that's not how dante should be portrayed imo but since it's and alternate universe anything goes I guess. As for Nero I thought he was a decent character but they had no elaboration on how he was related to dante, or how he got his arm. I would have loved for more development on that end.

I feel the exchange of human for angel practically makes this an entirely different game. Dante used his demonic powers to save people but cherished his human side. His human side is what gave him his strength of character....his real "power" for that matter.

From what ive seen so far it doesn't look that much different then DMC4. Maybe a little slower paced action.

If he did escape from that facility theres a good chance he is a homeless thug mmm Agreed, and a few years after the game sharing a novel and some quotes that only hint at his backstory and arm..

If it was the real Dante [need a better way of talking about the two] given his views on humans in general, being half angel instead would make him indifferent to anything that happens to people.

Somehow related:
"Some players have taken issue with Dante's perceived "camper" look, but this has more to do with different expectations surrounding Western games, Antoniades argued. "Somehow Japanese character styles get away with it," he said, when we asked whether players found camp leads from Japanese devs easier to swallow.

"We did a thought experiment suggested by [former Capcom exec Keiji Inafune] early on. It went like this: imagine this game as a contemporary movie. What would it look like? What would Dante look like? We went from there."

Capcom's Alex Jones expanded on the point. "Japanese style ethos does tend to involve make characters look cool for the sake of looking cool, adding odd accessories, crazy hairstyles and colour, cowboy boots and so on simply because they look cool.

"We in the West tend to be more functional adding things that have meaning and being able to explain that meaning. Why does Dante have white hair? I want to make a little story around that and explain it. And so on for the rest of his design choices."

"We've not so much done away with any of the Japanese aspects of the series," Antoniades resumed. "But are more building on the foundations of the franchise to develop a game that has a different flavour. We grew up on US and European movies, comics, music and general culture. That's what we're tapping into.

"We're not pretending we are Japanese nor making apologies for that."

Past Ninja Theory games have worked within lush fantasy fictions cobbled together from medieval European and Asiatic cultures. While pursuing a new art direction and story, Ninja Theory has been careful to respect Devil May Cry's combat system"

Can see where they're coming from... but don't think it works.

well there idea for making this more western is 100% understandable but things they were talking about make no sense to me.....

for example the hair color is white because his dads hair was white. Dante and Vergil were born with white hair. In fact Sparda himself looks nearly the same as Dante and Vergil. Dantes cool looks can be attributed to the fact that he thinks it's stylish. Dante is and I quote "the most stylish devil hunter around". I can understand what they are trying to say and do. Basically "westernize" the series. But reading what they said makes me wonder why they were given DMC in the first place. With all the things they are "stomping" on and what they said makes me feel like they knew nothing from the series but the bio's.......

"the one redeeming thing from this game is that it's "an alternate universe" imo....."

No thats where they ****ed up at IMO, we could've had a back story Dante leading from Eva's death up to DMC 3 if it weren't from the whining fantards constant bitching but I digress

And they only seem to be talking about his DMC4 semi-cowboy look and extra belts. Excluding his 'eh, whatever' 3 look, theres his pretty casual 1/anime appearance and darker 2 outfit. These three appearing very western.

But theyre missing out on the 'stylish' factor that Dante made his own.

Well actually being the same universe would mean the NTDante woul replace Dante's whole character, history and pretty much make what happened in the four games become void. At least this way they can chance things without officially touching CapDante, maybe even leaving room for a DMC 5.

That seems highly unlikely but if capcom do I hope they continue from DMC2 cause that Dante is supposedly the most powerful incarnation and we could probaly get more feats out of him

lol speaking of DMC2 dante he managed to dispose of ardosax before his sword hit the ground http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ_nq-7qCzo you guys can't tell me he's not awesome

Back on topic:
I wonder if the new dante will be more powerful than old dante *ponders*

I personally think the new dante looks better than the old one.

thats what I was thinking actually because his boots in 1,2&3 they were combat boots not cowboy in anyway....which is another reason I seem to hate this because like I said earlier "they don't seem to know anything about the games besides the Bios". The Anime outfit was pretty decent as was 1&2. I felt 3 was ok but my favorite outfit was DMC 1.

Indeed he was into being "stylish" and that could be related to Japanese or Western themed.

like blood rain said....

if it was not an alternate universe then it would have changed the entire series. So DMC2 would have technically never happened. Lots of people think "ooh no it's just young dante" but thats not true they changed him. So yea it is technically an origin, but a new one that would have rebooted everything. They made him an angel/demon hybrid for starters. So some of the fans are upset about more then just his horrible(imo of course) looks.

you come on here and say:
"No thats where they ****ed up at IMO, we could've had a back story Dante leading from Eva's death up to DMC 3 if it weren't from the whining fantards constant bitching but I digress"

now maybe thats your opinion but i completely disagree not just because I happen to be one of those "fantards" but because this way everyone gets what they want. I get to keep my games and Dante the way they are and you can have the new ones it's win win for everyone.

I wont lie I disagree but I think it's awesome how you come in and state your opinion and not "criticize" anyone! Im being serious to I wish everyone could be as civil as you about this.

@bloodrain: you also are being very civil about this so I wasn't excluding you lol

@chuck inglish: read what The GoldenSpy said. Which is my point making this an alternate universe he's happy and so am I. Plus this way they wont lose any fans. In fact they will be gaining some.

Not sure where they would go. One of the many reasons Nero took the lead was that Dante was getting really powerful (Strongest in his verse by DMC4). Whats to challenge a man who can solo his entire verse?

My guess is that he wont be physically as capable as DMC3 Dante but he'll probably have some unique powers that will at least let him contend.

Begs the question of why dont they know their DMC history..

Yeah 1 had the casual/badass fell and wasnt too much, like 3&4.

Will be annoyed if this Dante's S ranks say sytlish...

Indeed. I would think they would have done tons of research and had tons of game time before they made any kind of statements. I just love how at the end of DMC 3 Special Edition after Dante picks his shops name he is wearing the DMC 1 outfit. Which also brings me to my next point, they never even made any mention (as of yet) about a possible Devil May Cry shop. Which Dante named Devil May Cry because of the tears he shed for his brother. So if he ends up at a shop is he going to have a twin in this? so many questions so little answers but right now it just feels wonky and the really don't seem to know DMC very well at all. They need to release some more info on this game. Nothing to big but enough to show whats up with it.

meh, they could introduce more powerful demon since (no offense) the dmc demons are piss weak. They could've made DMC 5 about dante's journey in hell since technically at the dmc 2 he said "yeah let's go all the way to hell"
