The New Dante sucks.
But I do see some potential in the new dante 😮

Indeed. I would think they would have done tons of research and had tons of game time before they made any kind of statements. I just love how at the end of DMC 3 Special Edition after Dante picks his shops name he is wearing the DMC 1 outfit. Which also brings me to my next point, they never even made any mention (as of yet) about a possible Devil May Cry shop. Which Dante named Devil May Cry because of the tears he shed for his brother. So if he ends up at a shop is he going to have a twin in this? so many questions so little answers but right now it just feels wonky and the really don't seem to know DMC very well at all. They need to release some more info on this game. Nothing to big but enough to show whats up with it.

Oh wow, totally slipped my mind that they didnt mention the shop. Though my guess is that theyre leaving it out or its gonna pop up at the end like in 3. Could be the name the guys who had him locked up.. but that may be weird. Mhm, I know they want to show that the combat is good, but its coming out in less than a year without a single story trailer.

meh, they could introduce more powerful demon since (no offense) the dmc demons are piss weak. They could've made DMC 5 about dante's journey in hell since technically at the dmc 2 he said "yeah let's go all the way to hell"

Mundus, Abigail and Argosax were all world threats. And besides Mundus no one else, including the other two mentioned, was strong enough compared to Dante to show off what they got. Do agree to wanting stong demons though.

"For those of us eagerly looking forward to DmC, the wait may feel excruciating at times, and indeed, much of the project is still shrouded in mystery. Today, we can at least enjoy these new screens, concept art, and tidbits of info to tide us over for a bit.

Dante
DmC’s Dante is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.

Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes but these were mostly operated by demons and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general but tries to stay incognito. He sides with the little guy, the victims of what he sees as an unfair society.

Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory

In Game
The Rebellion sword was given to Dante by his father Sparda as a weapon with which he could protect himself against the demons that hunt him. How Dante came in to possession of Ebony and Ivory or where they come from is unknown.

Design Ethos
The design philosophy behind both Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory is to create the impression that they were crafted a long, long time ago and since their creation they have sent innumerable demons to their doom.

Ebony & Ivory have straight, clean looking barrels that make them look like contemporary firearms, while the addition of ornate embossing is used to give the guns a feeling of mystique and uniqueness. As you move into the grip you can see that the guns have a more fluid, liquid-like look that adds further mystery and a demonic flavor to their design.

Rebellion is designed to look like a powerful sword, with the detailing in the handle giving it a feeling of historical significance coupled with a demonic heritage. The same design ethos that was used for the Ebony & Ivory grips is also true for Rebellion’s hilt, making the weapons match stylistically.

I'm liking the character they're giving him. Personally preferred the old Rebellion design, but the new E&I are just plain sexy :0 Updated demons are looking good and it appears that Dante has bulked up a little from the older design.

Overall; yay.

Looks like they toned down the fruityness of Dante's new design a bit. Doesn't look half bad now. Still can't replace the old look tho IMO.

rebellion looks like a butterknife

saw the new footage of the game...thought I would give it a chance...well all I accomplished by watching it was losing 2:12 seconds of my life......

Just gonna post it;

I like it. The majority of DMC fans have turned in favour by this point.

^ Lulz, did he wear his clothes in mid-air?

Yeah, he's > old Dante. peaches

Also, any word on whether it is a prequel/re-boot or dream-verse schtick thing?

you know dante always looked young but they've somehow mad him look even younger

Yes, I believe he did, and right after some wild sexin' :I

Nada. The last thing they said was that its a parallel universe. A DMC forum had an interview and got this;

"Meg: For the sake of clarity, and to put to bed any still-lingering confusion, what would be the most accurate way of describing DmC: reboot, prequel, parallel universe, or something else entirely? How does DmC fit into the series?

DM: You can compare what DmC is in contrast to the previous 4 games with what Christopher Nolan’s Batman is in contrast to Adam West’s Batman from the 60’s. The game doesn’t sit within the timeline of the previous 4 games, however fans of the existing series will find familiarity with some of DmC’s themes and characters"

..So I'm guessing that they were in a way saying its like the multiple DC and Marvel universes. /shrugs/

Thats true for a few reasons. This Dante may be slightly younger than DMC3's Dante who was 19. New Dante is supposed to appear more 'normal', which is a reason why his body is different to the older Dante's muscular/broad/more adult body. The white hair could also make him seem older.

Right after sex? Yeah, definitely > Original Dante. awesome

So closer to reboot/alternate universe then. That's good. Did not want it to be a prequel.

This Dante seems like he's trying to hard and besides this Dante doesn't make me think he's unstoppable like the old Dante does.

Im very thankful for this! I enjoyed Dante as he was....not to mention Im still not on board with the half angel thing in this new universe so this way Im happy because they didn't reboot it and everyone else can be happy with the new game.

EDIT: I also like the way his Sword and Guns looked in the previous games.

^ That was an older interview. Now they're back to dancing around the answer with that Batman comparison.

DmC Gets Release Date, PC Version, and New Character Info

"The game is now set to release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 15th, 2013 in both North America and Europe. (...) a PC version of the game is also coming later in 2013, and that its development is already well underway."

"Kat

Kat is a former runaway that joined The Order very early in her life. She is a medium and a gifted psychic who can see into Limbo, the demon realm, but not directly interact with it in the way that Dante does. She is the right hand girl of the Leader of The Order and devotes her very life to him, often putting herself in grave danger to gather intelligence from Limbo.

There is a sweet innocence about Kat’s world view and logic, but when it comes to her specialist subject, the demon realm, she is an undoubted expert. Kat is The Order’s ‘eyes and ears’ and is tasked with guiding Dante on his mission through Limbo."

Thanks for the vid. Is it just me or does it seem like it takes a lot more work to get up to an A combo in this game? 1 and 3 required a lot of work but as long as you transitioned smoothly you could get up to A and S (minus when you used Virgil on 3 because his sword just destroyed everyone far too easily).

New Gamescom trailer.

The new Dante look is starting to grow on me, and Virgil looks less like an androgynous anime douchbag now.
