Andrew clapped his hands together. "Okay, then. On to the major stuff. Things are in motion. What we heard the General and Lieutenant say, how supers shouldn't exist, is how a lot of people are going to feel after New York."
"How would you know that, Andrew," Bonnie asked. "I mean, we did save a lot of people."
"We did. No one's going to say other wise," he responded. "But for a lot of people who don't have superhuman abilities, they're going to assume that it was a super. And why wouldn't they? I mean, who else could cause an attack that size with something so weird and unheard of?"
"The government," Caleb tried. "I mean, the Hive did attack supers. They were it's primary targets." Many of the assemble agreed.
Andrew shrugged his shoulders. "While that's true, I don't know if the government would be able to cook something like that up with out our knowing. But I do know that if I were a human with no powers, I'd point fingers to the people who are popping up out of the wood works now. People who can do things no one should be able to do.
"People who can enter your mind and make you do whatever they want you to do. People who can walk through fire and not die because their bodies heal themselves. People who can drain you life force with just a simple touch. People who can make just about anything happen with just a few spoken words. People who can control the various aspects of nature."
"But most of us were born that way," Sam said.
"And some of us were created like that," Rock added. "We didn't have a choice in the matter."
Nodding and gesturing around the room, Andrew said, "We know that and we accept that. But what if you were one of those people who aren't like us? People who don't see a kid flying all over the place or some man walking through a wall all the time. What would you think?
"Would you think it possible for a girl to be created in a petri dish and then have her grow up in a vat all her life? And then, that same girl was experimented on to give her super powers for whatever reasons."
Rock shrunk back into Lance's arm. She couldn't answer the questions. While it sounded normal to her, mainly because that was her life, it would have sounded like something from a comic book to her if she were someone else.
Andrew looked around the room as he spoke. "Jordan, the demi-god, is a mythical creature; Tori, the cyborg, is a science fictional government experiment; Simon, the shadow creature, is from another dimension; I'm an genetically enhanced version of something that was already more than human. Katt and DJ are aliens while Ben, Daniel, Lance and Sam all possess magical powers from fairy tales."
"We get it, Andrew," Katt injected. "We're all weird or freaks or imaginary."
"Well, I wouldn't use those words," he said.
"But someone else would," Katt clarified.
"And already has," Simon added.
It was quite for a moment. Everyone was letting that seep into their minds. DJ was the next to say something. "But they just don't understand us. If we were somehow able to explain to the masses-"
"They wouldn't let us," Naomi interrupted. "The masses wouldn't let us explain a damn thing."
"Why would you say that," DJ demanded.
"Because they don't understand us. And they wouldn't even try to," she answered.
"And we all know that people try to destroy what they don't understand," Caleb grumbled.
DJ, with his mouth agape and a few others stared at him. They all knew that Caleb was right. They just couldn't believe it was coming down to that.
"But the government....," DJ tried. "They approved the school. Doesn't that mean they accept of us?"
"DJ, they're making us register ourselves and what we can do after we complete our training here," Naomi explained. "I don't think that means they accept us. I think that means they want to know what we can do and how to deal with us."
DJ was getting a confused yet saddened look in his eyes. "But why?"
"Because they fear us," Lance surmised.
"And with good reason," Rock added as she hopped up. The room started to shake and the metal walls rippled as the girl balled her fists. Lance yanked her shirt and Rock fell back into her seat. "I'm just saying," she said, sporting her characteristic devious smile.
"So what are we supposed to do, Andrew," Janet asked.
"the only thing that comes to mind right now is to just cool our jets. Lay low. Everyone needs their rest anyways. And regardless of what some military brass says, I think we all did a damn good job."
"So why do we all feel like crap," Hitosu asked.
"Maybe it's because of this depressing meeting that Andrew called," Jordan smiled. Tori smacked him on his shoulder and then winced afterwards. She smacked his godly body with her human hand.
"We needed to get some things out on the table," Andrew defended himself.
"Yeah, I know. But it was still depressing. I say we take things as they come. The government's busted through our doors before and they always got their asses handed to them. And that was way back in the day. We're all plenty more stronger now." Jordan started cracking his knuckles and his cocky smile spread across his face.
Simon cleared his throat. "Jordan, that was all before people knew about us. I think if they come this time, they're gonna have something their very longs sleeves that's gonna...."
"Gonna what, Ray," Jordan inquired.
"I really don't know but I'm pretty sure that it won't be pretty."
"Well like he said," Tech jumped in. "We shouldn't worry about it until there's something definite to worry about."
"And I for one can go for some of that rest Andrew spoke of," Blayze yawned and stretched.
Andrew smiled. "First, I think we should all congratulate Strike Force for doing as good as they did. This was the team's first away mission and they did everything the way we would've handled it. They were and did risk themselves to help and save millions of people. And because of that, there will be no classes for a week starting on Monday."
Everyone acknowledged and congratulated the teens. Caleb and Hitosu both cheered at the announcement of no classes and many of the assemble laughed. The mood lightened almost effortlessly.
"So is this the end of this meeting," Rock asked.
"Yeah," Andrew nodded. "Everyone's dismissed."
