The nerve of Bethesda showing what we'll probably never play. If none of that stuff comes later as DLC, someone's gonna get punched.
The usefulness of gold fades very quickly in this game. It's definitely useful early on for buying potions and maybe, slightly better weapons but other than buying property, i personally never used money at all after the first couple hours of playing. Even then, i could have gotten by without it. Spelunking and doing side quests will garner you all of the best items in the game.
The only way i can see in game currency ever being useful in an elder scrolls game is if they introduced an online auction block, similar to what WOW has.

Right, I'll stop hoarding then for once. Still remember millions of caps collecting dust in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Also, I've not bought a horse yet, do they have a "summon horse" ability for when I fast travel to nowhere? Or how do I pick up my horse again after traveling?
If you fast travel, the Horse will automatically be next to you once you reach your destination (assuming it is not a walled city, in which case, it'll be in said city's stable).
Horses are nearly worthless though. Apparently they're as fast as your sprinting speed (so basically, you get to conserve your stamina), and they aren't very hardy. One of my horses was one-shotted by a Chaurus. That horse you get in the DB questline is much better.

There are various skill trainers around that you can use to increase different skills.I don't really use them much myself, but I also haven't played enough to have much spare money.
Also, horses are suicidal. Ridiculously so. They will charge and attack anything that attacks you. Including dragons.
And I haven't used a horse yet, I walk everywhere.

I didn't know you could use money to upgrade skills?I thought you could only do it by getting the points from leveling up?
I found it useful to do so with skills I would never use in my gameplay style.
I basically upgraded Smithing to around 90ish before I stopped playing the game. I basically wanted to most upgraded armour and I didn't want to grind to do so.
