Silverback Gorilla vs Kodiak Bear

It's not so much the strength in question, but more it's primal fear. Animals have a healthy respect of creatures that are much larger than they are. Humans also share this fear. Would you rather fight a person your size, or someone 2 feet taller than you?

Honey Badgers are also less intelligent than a Gorilla.

the only thing a gorilla's intelligence would do for it here is to allow it to understand that running is its best option

it's ridiculous that this has gone on for so long--Kodiak's are twice as heavy as silverbacks and have claws.

I agree. If you're going to do a gorilla vs bear fight, a grizzly bear is the closest in size to a silverback.

I still wanna hear some opinions on nile crocodile vs kodiak bear.

The gorillas intelligence allows it to "stick and move" around the bear dodging those dangerous claws while breaking the bears face with each strike. Then he applies a cross arm breaker for the submisson victory.

What makes you think a gorilla is faster than a bear?

As someone pointed out earlier (ini I think), nothing in a gorilla's environment prepares it to fight an opponent as large and powerful as a Kodiak, whereas Kodiaks have to fight each other, caribou, and moose.

Gorillas have to dodge feces being thrown at them at very high rates of speed

Depends on the size of the croc.

There's parts of the Nile that look like that? Go figger.

The lower parts of the Blue Nile to be exact. Plenty of bears too.

Nope.

There is no way a gorilla would win. The only advantage a gorilla has is more smarts, and that can only go so far.

Gorilla wins 12 out of 10 fights. And telepathy.

I appreciate you supporting my claim with irrefutable picture proof.

Obviously this is a joke, but to anyone who might misread this as a serious argument I'll point out that the crocodile in Lake Placid was at least three times larger than the largest crocodile in modern record, and wasn't a Nile Crocodile anyway.

What if the "Lake Placid" croc took on the giant mutated bear from "Prophecy"?

In any event, a Nile croc can still outweigh a kodiak by as much as 500-1000 pounds (1000-1500 lbs for the bear; 1900-2400 for the croc). Crocs also have perhaps the strongest biting force in the animal kingdom. If they fight in water deep enough for the croc to maneuver, but not so deep that the kodiak can still maneuver, I see the croc winning.

I'm not sure if the bear's claws could penetrate the croc's armored skin; neither do I know if a swipe of the croc's tail could break a bear's leg. The bear's best bet might be to stomp down on the croc, like how a polar bear breaks into seal dens. But that might work mostly if the fight is on land.

Would be a cool fight, better than Silverback vs (and loses to) Kodiak. 😎

My love for the nile croc makes me say that the croc would chomp the bear, but the bear could easily win too. This is one of those fights that will probably never happen though, lol.

No way a bear could beat Gustave though, that thing eats hippos.

Holy crap! A croc that can attack and eat an adult hippo is one step away from Zillahood.
