Let me tell you a little story.

See there was this guy. A really crazy guy who was an oil man and he decided to really change the world so he started this religious ministry to help kids all over the world. But that ministry really really wanted to help people so it took a lot of its food money and used to turn people into crazy guys so they could roll a few South American and African countries. Now one of the volunteers for this mission became a crazy guy himself and he for some reason decided the world was full of phonies so he went out and shot and killed the guy who he thought was the king of the phonies who happened to be a center point of liberal opposition and an ex-Beatle.

Now this same crazy guy was friends with the founder's son. Now the founder, being kind of a crazy guy was friends with another oil man and a conniving snake of a Hollywood actor who had just been elected president and vice president of the United States. Now the president didn't think that taxes on oil should be lowered quite as much as the crazy guy and the vice president thought they should. So for some reason, the crazy guy's son turned even crazier and opened fire on the president and his entourage.

Funny how there are so many crazy guys who have such impeccable timing, huh?

As for this crazy guy, just like the Ft. Hood shootings, what happened to the reports of the police TRACKING DOWN HIS ACCOMPLICES THAT WAS JUST REPORTED AND THEN SUDDENLY SQUASHED?

It all depends on brain plasticity and what the doctors can do and map out. If she's left-handed it's trickier because lefty brains sometimes assign tasks to different parts haphazardly. Even if there aren't any serious problems with mobility or cognition, she could still suffer from mood swings and significant personality changes. Right now the main concern in terms of surviving is probably infection, bleeding and/or intracranial pressure. It's a TBI so there may be some serious issues with returning to the job. Having what amount to corpses in suits like Strom Thurmond isn't something desirable.

Well, she's survived surgery and has responded to verbal commands from doctors, so they're optimistic for her recovery, but it'll be a few days before anyone will know for sure.

at her age, it would be much more a matter of overlapping/redundant/or what are called "degressive" (god, i think thats the term......) systems that would compensate, rather than true plasticity rewiring the function

When the Congresswoman makes her recovery and is released (because its looking that way), I wonder how they will explain it. God killed a kid, an employee of the target, and 4 old people, but spared the actual target--why? I'd like to hear Shirley Roper explain that.
