Well Ive heard him say that theres gonna be at least parts 1 and 2.

In an age where Bay is granted trilogy deals on Transformers, it would be injustice for a true great director like Mr.Scott to be denied the chance of telling a story that he has wanted to tell for 30 plus years, would it not?

I was thinking about this today and it got me thinking...this couldn't really be how we found them or how they were created because this movie is set in the future. The AvP movies were set in present day...so if they do a different look or something because 'thats how they started out' or whatever it's not gonna make any sense. Am I meant to believe that the AvP movies are non canon or what?
It's bound to confuse people without the inclusion of AvP - I can almost guarantee it.
Though you could slot all the films together in some form, it wouldn't be meaningful and there'd be no continuity.
I agree with you about Predator 2, they gave Ridley Scott a background acknowledgment, but did somewhat doom someone to create a followup movie to the fact that a skull just so happened to be on the Predator ship.
I own only 2 of the original Alien movies, those being the first 2...the 3rd and 4th movie were just dissapointments
Good AvP movies, could have been made. I read the first 2 graphic novels and enjoyed them, I thought they were good. But then the movies came out and somehow they managed to f*ck it up. I remember the first AvP movie had a lot of hype behind it.

Yeah, but the sexual tension between the woman and the Predator was pretty awesome, eh? Pretty sure they were gonna kiss and then get down and dirty at one point when they were silhouetted.

I agree with you on Alien movies. Love the first two, and I actually love the 3rd too. But the problem I had with it was that it was just Alien, but with a different cast and location. And the disappointment I had with that was the fact that they had so many big and well known actors in it.
Resurrection was endemic of Joss Whedon - who wrote the screen play. A bit quirky, and sometimes a bit difficult to take seriously. But the concept was awesome IMO.
I only read a couple of the AvP cross-overs, where it's not pure AvP - mixed in with Batman or Terminator etc etc. They were good, if not a little directed to make the protagonists seem like God. But they weren't bad reads. I did however play the original PC games.
AvP had potencial as a film, but they squandered it with a restrictive plot and characters. And tried to explain too much in a short space of time. If made now, you could almost guarantee it would be a 2 or 3 part series.

I felt like Alien 3 got the idea from Alien myself, when I first saw it I was like '...this is Alien with some changes!' The 4th movie was better than no.3 I guess, I hated the alien/human hybrid or...whatever the hell that was.
I read the original AvP storylines and I read the one where they had terminator and I have the Batman/Predator crossovers. They were all pretty good. I loved Batman/Predator, the first one was amazing. I loved how Alfred got involved. I too have played the PC game, I played the 1st and 2nd one.
Avp did have potential yes but they never really did anything great with it. I think they were a 2 part series in a way, they showed what happened with the predalien. I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot of the AvP movies but only if they do a good job with it, otherwise it's just a waste of time. I think they concentrate on CGI nowadays rather than a good script.
I guess AvP:R was a Part 2 in a way. But it didn't feel like one to me. The moment the ship crashed at the start of the film and the aliens were let loose on the town, it became a completely different feel of film.
I just don't think that introduction the Alien pandemic to a town full of people was a good idea for a sequel. In theory it's a good idea, it's practically the only way you can got with such a story based on Earth.
But it's a similar concept the John Carpenter's The Thing, you have a horror style setting in a confined space with something that could potentially spread if it met with civilization, but the reason you don't go to the whole spreading bit is because the The Thing and Aliens are effectively unstoppable - hence why Ash called them the perfect being in Alien.
I just feel the AvP:R had a hell of a lot of scope and they used the get out of jail free card with a massive explosion that wiped out the town.

Probably the fact that a single Alien was able to kill two predators in a row with relative ease. Definitely wasn't a good showing for the Predators.But then agan, Danny Glover > Veteran Predators, so whatever.
