Flashpoint

Some tidbits for issue 5.

The panel didn't include much in the way of breaking news or announcements, but the assembled creators did share plenty of insight with the fans in the packed Metro Toronto Convention Centre room. One audience member got selected to read a copy of Flashpoint #5 five days early, and let the crowd know his thoughts.

"It's good," the reader said. "It counts. I'm a Crisis on Infinite Earths guy, [but] I thought this overall and all the miniseries worked well. Now reading #5, I didn't think it was cheap." Of the two-page spread in the issue previously announced by DC as to serve as a bridge between Flashpoint and The New 52, the writer said, "I loved the thing between Bruce and Barry."

During the Q&A portion, a fan asked why DC didn't show the villain of the comic, the Reverse Flash, until the end of Flashpoint #4. Berganza said, "If you look closely, he's there," while the audience member reading issue #5 interjected, "Actually, he's not the major villain." Quote:

Massive spoilers there. Turns out Zoom

Spoiler:
Is not responsable for any of the changes, at least not directly.

As it turns out, Geoff Johns wankage doesn't have a limit. Barry retcons the DCU by getting mad enough, involuntarily.

Big reveal from FanExpo....

This news piqued some interest, though it was quickly overshadowed by another announcement. "We reveal one of our main heroes that we've seen for a while is Canadian," Berganza hinted of the impending relaunch, before confirming that hero in question is none other than Booster Gold.

I'm surprised Canada still exists in the future.

I guess is a fictional universe after all.

Canada ovetakes the US just like the present 🙂

Booster is Canadian in the new DCU.

haha yeah that is a little out of left field.

DC got critized for not having Canadian characters, so they introduced this indian mountiee that got taken out by one punch. Guess this is their please forgive us token

Anyone surprised by this is an idiot. ermm

Spoiler:
Where did barry get the power to do that?

Johns + Bart.

🙂 Nicely put.

The ending was okay for me. It was classic-Johns wankery, but aside from that, it was alright.

Yeah, I enjoyed Flashpoint as a whole. Like Jake said, the ending (ie. Barry being wholly responsible for retconning the entire DCU) was ridiculous- but I've been ready for that, so it didn't kill the issue for me.

On the other hand, I REALLY liked how S1 showed up and shit-stomped everyone in his path. 👆

^ Which was really impressive considering he was obviously still weakened a great deal due to the long status of captivity he was in and had only really been exposed to a very small level of yellow sun intake.

^ Agreed. The ownage had a SBP-esque quality about it- that is to say, S1 dominated every 'baddie' on the field with an extreme degree of ease.

When it mentions the 3 universes in the double page spread, what 3 universes is it mentioning?

I figured Mainstream DCU, Wildstorm and then wasn't quite sure on the third?

I mean, it could have meant the Vertigoverse, but seeing as that isn't actually changing ( Hellblazer is still running etc), I assumed it couldn't be that? Though maybe I'm just giving Johns too much credit in terms of him paying attention to that fact...

If you check out the illustrations, it looks like the [former] mainstream DCU, Wildstorm, and the new 52... But I'm not entirely sure.

S1 was the best of that damn universe 👆

The three Universes are Vertigo (Swamp Thing, John Constantine etc.), Wildstorm (Apollo, Midnighter, Grifter etc.) and the mainstream Universe (classic hero/villain costumes), on the left side of the page, while in the other side there was the new Universe, with all of those characters combined (Sinestro, Swamp Thing and Apollo in the same panel on the top right, or the JLA and Grifter on the bottom left).

Makes sense. I guess I was thrown off at first because I saw Animal Man in the same panel as the others- and he hasn't been a 'Vertigo character' for a LONG time.
