He didn't just hurt the Surfer, tho. He crushed him with ease. Something I don't think Supes can do even w/o weakness exploitation. 😛
I believe that (due to that showing), in terms of durability, strength, speed and energy attack, the Runner has clear advantages to Superman. He was clearly shown to be stronger and was implied to be faster than the Surfer during their fight as well as durable enough to tank a direct PC blast and has blasts powerful enough to bring the Surfer down. I think those are all the tools needed to take down Supes.
The only thing Supes has going for him is his obvious skill in CQC, but with the Runner's likeability aura, I really don't see Supes exploiting this to the level needed to win here. The "likeability" aura has affected the Surfer (who himself has epic mental resistance as well) as well as high end psychic like Moondragon, it's not a domination thing than it is an emotional response. Unless Superman has no emotions, I don't think that he can be immune to it (tho, like the Surfer, he CAN actively resist it, but it would still affect him).
