but my god man savior still rocks, he was born 400 centuries before christ and is american born myth of my continent .. has similar undertones to bejesus from virgin birth, son of god, savior, tied to a crooked tree, sacrificed himself for humanity and told ppl not to kill nor sacrifice one another but simply give your heart(love) and if you feel the need to sacrifice let it be plants, flowers and butterflies etc etc..

IMO: The Christian expression of this does not necessarily mean New Testament authors borrowed from previous myths (though I would think, some of that must be true). I think Mr. Campbell's point was -- not that we're recycling story elements -- but rather, there is something profound and universal welling up from deep in the human psyche, something which perpetuates this expression, in all its forms, time and again.

i think the story of jesus could have been altered but i do believe he was who he and others claimed him to be.
thank you for that book you mention i will try to find time to read it.
