Where does it say the 501st were the best troops Palps had? He had more than the 501st you know, there WERE some who may have been better at forest/jungle warfare.

Now, if they are his best, then we can assume two things:
1. That they are the 501st, and are indeed his best.
2: That those particular troops on Endor are actually better than the 501st.

That much may be agreed on, though you are not taking into account they may have been better fighter in forest warfare. Its different than a straight battlefield, with open ground and all. The troops on Endor may have been trained as guerillas for all we know.
What we can say for fact is that the 501st are not the failures on Endor. They 501st did in fact hit a protagonist, they hit several. They slaughtered the jedi temple with Vader. They took the Tantive IV.

Not so in ROTS/Attack of the clones.
RJ, troops trained in specific things are better than others that are generally trained. Say a company trained specfically for warfare in Vietnam, and one trained specifically for warfare in, idk lets say Arctic areas. Both are battle hardened in hundreds of battles. Know what? Put either of them in the others environment they wont survive for long, or deal as many casualties as would have been projected, due to lack of training for that environment.
So, if the 501st are a generally trained assault force, why would they be on a planet, when there are others who were trained to fight in that environment?
Btw RJ, 501st and the stormies on Tantive IV, same people. Thats why they hit things. So if you say its a different force on Endor, they were trained for forest warfare. If you say its the 501st, they can hit people.
