USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 4- The Hunt in the Hills

Ok now the issue here is how fast you guys move compared to how fast a. the Dunlendings and b. Lacharon moves, In future battles Ill move straight on at this part but I just want everyone to be clear right now that this sort of thing is based on Manoeuvre rolls, and hence is one issue involved with wearing heavier armour.

Talin and Menelacar are in their chain, yeah?

Could I maybe make a presence roll to make them notice me and perhaps divert their attention? My thinking is if they see me, they might slow or change their direction, giving us more time to hit them with our melee guys.

Yup! It'll make Talin slow but it'll make him hard to kill.

Same with Menelacar - Elven forged chain, I might add. Might be lighter!

Lacharon starts to bugger off with a 70 rolled for a 105.

(Assuming you are unarmoued that is, Lacharon., Which is, btw, pretty dangerous)

105 is good! Keeps him going! Let's see how the Dunlendings do.

Well, five of them are only keeping pace, but one has rolled a 116 and is closing!" One more turn like that and he will catch you.

(Paldian- what kind of bow do you carry? I'll resolve your shot then. Lacking any sort of Secondary skill, there;s nothing you van do better than just attacking them to attract their attention.)

Talin rolls an 11, giving a Manoeuvre of 31. Yeah, he;s not quite there yet.

Menelacar's 77 goes to 87, which is better., He's closing!

I'll say four of the six Dunlendings turn to face you guys, though bear in mind that Menelacar has pulled ahead of Talin!

I have a short bow.
Can I attack a Dunlending that has not turned to face us? Or is it too late?

What about Anglomir?

Not posted recently enough!

Moving on in a day, so folks have until then to make any moves.

Lacharon will run like crazy some more.

Only two to beat now, which is the good news!

Anglomir will run in after the others!

Anglomir originally rolled a 21, leaving him languishing behind with Talin.

Lacharon rolls a 61 giving a 96. One Dunlending chasing him rolls a 51 giving a 71- no good- the other rolls a 75, giving a 95. Darn it, that is close! He's almost got you!

Talin and Anglomir rolls 06 and 07 respectively; not good timing for them to stumble on soft, loose ground as this leaves Menelacar running into combat with four of them!

Palidan takes a shot but rolls a 1- no good!

Menelacar, you are in a fight against Dunlendings A-D. A and B attack you head n tis turn. C ans D are flanking you and there's not much to be done about that right now, but it does take them an action.

As a reminder about attacking:

1. Nominate a target

2. If you wish, apply part of your Offensvie score as defence against separate opponents, directly subtracting from the attack roll made by that opponent this turn

3. Your shield applies 25 defence to one nominated target that is not to your rear.

Attack A, full offensive, with Shield against B.

I'll take another shot. See if I do better.

Paldian- was that a snap shot or are you taking an aciton to load properly?

Notation reminder: Offence (weapon type)/Defence, Manoeuvre (armour type) Hits remaining

The unarmoured Dunlendings strike first. A 36 and a 38 against Menelacar are no good! Menelacar focusses his full skill against A and rolls a 67, giving a 123. That's a 21E against an unarmoued target! The critical is a chest wound that leaves him down and dying; we can count him out.

Taling rolls an 89 and makes it to the field! Anglomir still not quite there yet. B and C are on Menelacar, D is on Talin!

Menelacar: 56 (1he)/5 10 (C) 98

Talin: 79 )1hc)/15 20 (C) 119

Dunlending B: 35 (1he)/0 30 (U) 30

Dunlending C: 35 (1he)/0 30 (U) 30

Dunlending D: 35 (1he)/0 30 (U) 30

Dunlending E: 35 (1he)/0 30 (U) 30

Dunlending F: 35 (1he)/0 30 (U) 30

Lacharon, you keep pace with your pursuers this round. But what they are not doing is giving up!

And it doesn't seem like I'll outrun them...maybe I could try to lead them back into the fight?

Or, well, do I have much of a chance against two guys with my dagger and without armor?

I'll be honest, it would be a risk.

You'd outrun them if you were rolling better!

Full offensive on B; shield on C.

Full offensive on D! Talin comes charging at the Dunlending as it charges towards him, raising his axe and meaning to go through the Dunlending by slamming his axe into his stomach and hefting him over his shoulder.

I will take the reload turn and target E.
