Did Hope amp him or was this him "gathering his will" type of moment?
Kurt teleported over 800 miles or so with Rogue earlier in that story, but it was only through short, repeated teleports that he did it.
The thing he does with Hope before he dies is one of those "Everything is on the line and I HAVE to do this or we all die" moments. He prays for strength and teleports from Las Vegas to Utopia.

I remember at the beginning of Uncanny Xmen #300 NightCrawler teleported to a remote beach with the right co-ordinance.
Showing that if he had the knowledge of the location he could TP there with more efficiency.
