So why do I get pointed out when at least 4 people in here have called Superman a god and we have one guy saying that Superman has tossed planets but when I talk about Glads... sh** hits the fan.

Superman's not a god. At best, you could argue him being a Kryptonian demi-god and Rao's descendent, but that isn't mentioned a whole hell of a lot by DC and I've not heard of many writers entertaining it nowadays.

Shit hits the fan when you talk about Glads when you start highballing the holy hell out of him and trying to put him on a level that he really is not on while lowballing and ignoring other feats, usually out of ignorance (unmalicious, though).

Give me one example of me lowballing anyone here.

See Pr's last post.

Most of the time, I don't think you do it to be an ass or anything, but you do it nonetheless.

And off topic to the lulz factor I briefly entertained...

I will definitely say that current Thor hasn't been beastly in the way of current feats. My opinion is that Asgard - and Thor - are more grounded on Earth, which kind of restricts him from his top tier level of showings. If Astonishing Thor remains cosmic based, and if Fraction can do something worthy in Mighty Thor and Fear Itself, we'll probably see some more impressive stuff from him. All the stuff that made Classic Thor pretty epic doesn't happen as often in today's Marvel comics, imo.

true, midgard doesnt have the threats that thor needs to be addressing anyway, he should take a cue from beta ray and go cosmic for awhile

But how is that lowballing when everything I said was basically true. My entire point for that post wasn't to lowball anyone... it was to prove that he nor Gladiator or Thor has unlimited strength.

I concede that he's better, but they are in the same class....youve got to atleast give me that 😛

At base levels, sure.

Huh?

I wasn't lowballing, I was showing him that characters DOESN'T have unlimited strength. I already showed you feats. I also showed you him treating Heralds like children. What is it you are looking for?

you didn't show me feats that put him above Superman. You claim they exist, and that you're going to post them (yes, even after last time), but so far...

shrug

Gladiator got schooled by Cannonball.

See how it looks?

Pr... I never said that Gladiator is above his tier. What I said was I would give him the majority against Supes and you disagreed. I can give reasons all day on why I would give him the majority.

Omg...

You are doing the opposite of what I claimed (by the way, Cannonball didn't own Gladiator, he got in one lick that entire fight). What I did was show that he doesn't have unlimited strength because he needed assitance (which there is nothing wrong with that) on certain feats. Kind of like Gladiator doesn't have unlimited strength because it took him 3 punches to destroy a planet and he strained to move a planetary size asteroid and he it took him some time to over power Masterson during an arm lock.

That was the only thing I was proving and showing... that no one mentioned in this thread has unlimited strength. You read my post kind of wrong Pr.

You claiming that he needed help, without proof, doesn't really hold up.

I know all about Gladiator and Cannonball. What I meant was:

When you say the things you say about Superman, you're basically doing the equivalent of me saying Cannonball beat Gladiator, or that Colossus stalemated him. It's the same thing.

This is the same piss poor argument Carver has forwarded time and time again and has had defeated each time.

Having less showings doesn't translate to having lower showings. It just translates to having less showings.

it can translate into lower ones as well. Look at Batman for one. He has some of the most absurd feats and that becuase he had so many apearances.

So yes more can equal greater. Thats why it is better to go for consistency when dealing with one character that has 100 appearances compared to another who in the thousands.

Though I would like to point out that I am no saying gladeator is supermans equal.

I doubt BB's shield is superior to the shield that protected Darkseid's bunker in Final Crisis, the shield Superman one shotted.

And a whisper isn't downing Superman, that's just silly.

A whisper downing superman is silly.

But so is supes tanking a whisper.

I mean sentry was blown back a could hundred feet and knocked on his ass by a whisper. And sentry is arguably more powerful then supes(not that I feel he his)

Sentry's durability is incredibly variable.

And getting pushed back but not being harmed significantly=tanking it.

I was under the impression that tanking is what juggernaut does on a day to day basis. Pretty much standing there and the attack doing jack crap to you.

At least thats what i think tanking means.

I thought tanking was more surviving. Or still be standing after attacks.

I call that "laughing it off"

If I were to make a chart it'd go like this:

Laughing it off: the attack does jack shit
Shrugging it off: you might get jostled or show irritation or mild pain, but very little happens
Tanking it: you can get knocked back or down, maybe even cry out in pain, but you're fine.
Surviving it: you can get KOed or seriously hurt, but you survive.

Then by your definition yeah it'd be tanking it.

I guess there is no set definition for tanking though...

there is...tanking it means taking an attack without being injured

Its a very broadly used term, the only thing that all rational people can agree is that tanking necessitates surviving the attack (resurrecting from HF or magic or whatever doesn't count).

I agree. In fact if you look at his apearances you can see it change. At the start they made him pritty much like hulk in which he seem unharmed by any attack, but as time progressed it change from invulnerability to extreme level, but instead to crazy healing ability.

He's dead, he sucked, let's move on. 😄
