PURELY AND SIMPLY FOR THE MONEY.
I know some people have missed this franchise since the last movie.
I will definitely be one of the people going to go see this.
As well as most of the people who replied to this post.
I hope they follow through with a SCREAM 4.
Who cares about all that trilogy stuff and what not.
It's just another "horror" movie to go watch.
And I'm going to go see it.

SCREAM 4 has been officially greenlit by the Weinstein Company, almost eight years after the last installment was released in theaters. No other details have been given out, other than the official announcement from the Weinsteins:"The SCREAM franchise has become a cult classic. Together, all three movies have grossed over $300 million at the box office, just in the United States alone. The fans have been asking for a 4th Scream movie for years and we're finally giving it to them. As far as details go, we're only in the planning stages and we may not get around to it [SCREAM 4] for quite some time, but rest assured, it will happen." Will the original cast be returning? "We've just entered the planning stages of Scream 4. There isn't even a script right now. Only time will tell." SCREAM 4 will be co-distributed by Dimension Films and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
I just hope it falls through.
Craven May Return For Scream 4
The Weinstein Co. announced recently that it is planning to bring the Scream franchise back to screens. Now MTV has spoken to Wes Craven, who shouted the orders on the first three films, and it discovered that he has had some early talks about returning for the fourth movie.
“There has been talk between Bob Weinstein and me about doing another Scream,” he said. He also suggested that the studio would like to get original writer Kevin Williamson back on board. Fans will know that Williamson wrote the first two (very good) films, with Ehren Kruger taking over for the third (really not very good) installment. All great news, yes? Well, hang on just a minute.
Craven says that he would only return on his terms, following the disaster of his last collaboration with the Weinsteins. When making Cursed, intended as a sort of Werewolf version of Scream, he was subjected to no end of interference, having to re-shoot and re-cut the film until it became a completely toothless flop. "My last experience (with the Weinsteins) was kind of rough with Cursed so (a return to Scream) would have to be under very, very controlled circumstances," Craven told the website.
If Craven and the Weinsteins can work out their differences then hopefully we could be in for something up to the quality of the original Scream. At the very least, it's reassuring to know that The Weinstein Co. wants the original team back and isn't just looking for something cheap and quick.

While SCREAM 4 is still very much in the early stages of development, we have a few exclusive facts to kick start the hype.
Fact #1: Kevin Williamson (writer of two of the SCREAM films (character credit on third)) is going to start writing a draft, although it may or may not become the shooting script (which is typical).
Fact #2: Wes Craven may or may not direct, but there is a very good possibility that he will return.
Fact #3: They are making financial offers to David Arquette, Courtney Cox Arquette and Neve Campbell to play cameos.
Fact #4: This will be a younger version of the SCREAM movies.
What on earth does Fact 4 mean? prequel? younger leads and the above three names will only be in the background?
