My god. The hype over this new controller is just revolting. This is the Wii Remote all over again, IMO.Unless Nintendo hitches up their nuts and drops a console with some actual power and third party support, then I'm probably going to lose interest.
If the console doesn't get CoD, I cannot see it doing as well as the other two.

Some samples of what so called "hardcore" gamers were saying about the Wii U games that were actually running on ps360 hardwareA classic example of how our personal bias can affect the way that we see things. The bias against Nintendo is so strong that many dudebros saw the games as WORSE looking then ps360 games, even though they were actually running on ps360 hardware lulz.

Some people are never satisfied.

...have you actually read anything on this new console?
It is more powerful than the PS3/Xbox 360, significantly so. It has plenty of third-party support.
Seriously, now. If you're going to criticize things, spend a few minutes reading up on them first...you're smarter than that, Matt.
What is a "hardcore gamer"? I'm only asking in here because lots of people are throwing the term around.
I was under the impression that the actual definition was based upon the amount of time someone spent playing a game, not on having a predilection on graphics or MP games or what not, otherwise I imagine a "hardcore gamer" who only has a console would be an oxymoron, as PC's will be superior to a console in MP support and graphics.

Okay, I obviously spoke too soon. I read some more in-depth articles and I retract my earlier statement.
However, I still stand by my comment for the controller. It just looks like Hype City. I'm going to do more research later.

There are various definitions but the one I like the best:
A person who plays "hardcore" titles such as CoD, Elder of the Scrolls, Halo. Time spent on the games is not important as it's more of an attitude towards gaming rather than actual time spent playing the games.
For instance, you could be a hardcore gamer if you spend only 2 hours a week playing video games.
It's more the games and your attitude towards the games you play.

Meh.Nintendo and the gimmicks. *Sigh*
*Puts on flame shield*
Gaming itself has pretty much always been a gimmick when you think about it.. Whether or not the gimmick being used actually works or is successful is what counts in the end, though.

What do Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Halo all have in common?
Easy answer: they are played almost exclusively by hardcore gamers.
Which came first: hardcore games or hardcore gamers?
Answer: neither.
They evolved with each other. Technically, the games were produced because they were in demand. But that was more a product of certain types of games succeeding to the publishers' surprise such as Doom 3D and Wolfenstein 3D.
I'm starting to define gamers as three catagories
Casual
Core
Hardcore
Casual is self explantory. Core are the gamers who have a 360/PS3 but not both and play CoD, Madden, GTA and very popular games. Hardcore are gamers with multiple consoles, play the more obscure stuff.
I feel that Nintendo has to get the core gamer.
