I just don't think a feat that basically amounts to photographic memory and super-speed thinking is the best example to showcase that intelligence.

Is Thanos superior?
Durability:
1. Tooks a number of attacks from Odin and was still standing. Drax and Surfer were each one shotted.
2. Fought WM Thor to a standstill. Surfer, Drax, and the Watch were getting whomped by that Thor.
3. Travel through a number of dimensions where his body was warped and still he reverted himself back to normal.
4. No sell a shot from Surfer and continued talking. No selling another attack just by blocking it with one hand. Then beat Surfer to submission.
5. Pre-uprade, slugged it out with intelligent Drax and left the destruction of the planet unharmed. The same Drax that ripped apart a star.
6. Took a direct explosion from a gas giant planet that's core was ignited by Fallen One. Fallen One was k.o.ed by this blast that the Shi'Ar monitored, noting that the entire systems' worlds would be uninhabitable by the next cycle. No shields were involved because Thanos notes that Skreet also survived it, who says she's survived worse. And coming from her it's not a lie, seeing as how she blitzed a Cube Being and was blasted back, Skreet was annoyed simply annoyed by it.
Output:
1. Knocked Galactus on butt. That's far above anything Surfer has ever done to the World Devourer. Beta Ray only managed to cracked Galactus' armor, not move him in the least bit. Galactus was mildly annoyed by Bill's attack while he was pissed off at Thanos.
2. Fought a Cube Being head on and mind wiping her.
3. Beat WM Thor (w/ PG) into the ground literally while Surfer and Pip could only watch. The drew a stalemate with a WM Thor that was amping with the Power Gem, something none of the Infinity Watch with Strange and Surfer could say.
4. Pre-upgrade by Mistress Death, beat both Thing and Thor. Thing might not be herald, but Thor is.
5. Beat Surfer into unconsciousness without much effort.
6. Used his shields as an offense weapon for Fallen One to run into.
7. TK asteroids at Fallen One.
8. Mindwiped Fallen One into his slave.

2. During the Infinity War, he scanners detected Magus' power and found his citadel before anyone else did. After Magus sent him away and scrambled his signal, his chair was only one step behind Doom and Kang's combined tech in finding Magus' citadel.
3. His gun imprisoned WM Thor longer than the combined efforts of Surfer, Strange, and the Infinity Watch.
4. His mobius chair navigated through dimension corridors bettered than Galactus tech who had Strange use the Eye of Aggamotto to assist in the travel.
Thanos is far superior to Superman because he walks over heralds every time they've fought. The guy puts minimal effort in beating these guys. Superman can't say the same against his tier.
When's he ever walked all over Black Adam, Captain Marvel, Green Lantern, Sinestro, Wonder Woman, or Orion? When's he done it without putting real effort into it? You're top tier characters all have lots of great showing in either company some more than others. Just because Supes has more of it, it doesn't mean he walks all over say other top tiers who don't. Thanos does things that make top tiers and heralds look silly.
As for that Miracle Machine, he remembered it's parts and put it together. He didn't invent the thing. It's a good feat for intelligence let's not pass that as something comparable to inventing your own tech.

Thanos' tech, cloning, etc would sort of indicate that they are equal, at least, in terms of this "scientific/engineering" type intelligence.
I think thanos is much more consistently shown as using his cunning and misdirection, a completely different type of intelligence, than is superman, and I would certainly say he probably has the better feats in the regard (outfoxing the grandmaster who, himself, was already cheating... etc)
In terms of a fight, the later is probably more useful, though I'd be willing to say Superman might win in a battle of Stanford-Binnet IQ tests.
Super-power or not, that doesn't necessarily mean he surpasses Thanos, espcially in terms of outwitting his opponents
