Captain Atom started out slow but finished strong.

Probably won't read anything else this week...

Not reading Batman? Shame, it's probably my favorite comic from 52.

^ Bat-books aren't usually my cup of tea (though I do like quite a few arcs), but I've heard great things about this since day one... I might have to go outside my comfort zone and check it out.

Cap was pretty good. A couple of nice feats he had there. BTW, what the hell was that at the end?!

you haven't been reading enough comics
Yeah. Or it's just amplified by Flash's extreme 'imma 'bout to be raped' face.

Hard to tell, hard to tell.

A future revelation of some sort.

That led us to a young man that asked about Wally West, to which of course I clapped and seconded. Dan and Eddie gave an answer that is going to keep me at bay with nerd rage for a while longer. He said because there were de-aging Barry, they didnt want him to be the same age as Wally. Plus they didnt want to take away Wally’s kids and family or make him a teenager again, especially with Bart already in that role. Dan also pointed out that someone close to him is a big Donna Troy fan, and Donna was given the same treatment when Wonder Woman was made younger in the relaunch. Their answer was that they are simply focusing on establishing the characters they started out with in this new 52, but not saying those other characters don’t exist or aren’t around in some way. They understand that everyone’s character is someone’s favorite. They just ask us Wally and Donna fans to be a bit more patient with them and those characters will be seen once more.

That actually sounds like a plausable reason. I just hope we don't get too much about those f*cking kids when he does show up. Make them babies again, PLEASE DC.

Can't wait for Aquaman and the "Other League". And looks like Darkseid and the New Gods have something big planned, even after his Justice League debut. Probably tied with the hooded woman.

New Guardians was good. Invictus is a f*cking beast.

The Batman titels were all quite nice so far. Justice League International was incredibly disappointing till now, almost stupid...

apparently Francis Manapul & Brian Buccellato want to give a definitive explanation of the speed force. Brian Buccellato: "Yes. We're going to explain the speed force definitively". They are actually going to make it a type of place also.

EDIT: as a long time flash fan I enjoy the idea of doing this but im scared that if the "definitive" explanation of the speed force isn't good enough then we will be stuck with something stupid....

Wouldn't it be something if the new Speed Force is mainlined by a certain Wally West?

that would be an interesting introduction. I have a bad feeling about wally though. keeping in mind barry doesn't really seem to know Iris and they haven't dated. So Barry shouldn't even know wally leading me to believe wally never got his powers.

iirc during wally's arc in the 80's it was stated that wally got struck because barry kind of drew the lighting down. kind of like a lighting rod but instead it hit wally. but this is a reboot so you never know.

I Vampire was freakin INSANE! It just keeps on getting better and better.

^ That it was. Andrew

Spoiler:
*seemingly* dying
shocked the hell out of me.. I also enjoyed the Justice League: Dark tie-in. 👆

Aquaman was solid, and it laid the groundwork for the next issue. Reis needs to get back on art though.

One thing I noticed upon re-reading #5, though, was that during the conversation between Arthur and his "father", it was mentioned that Arthur's "mermaid came back to him". That could mean that Arthur's past is still in contuinity, like Arthur junior being born, Aquaman fighting Tempest, and even Manta killing Arthur's son.

No; that's issue 7. This issue was somewhat of a preview, and we got to see a bit more of how Mera's head works. They're steadily building them up as one of the best couples in comics imo; there's a very interesting dynamic between the two of them.

Also, there was a subtle dig at the people who say Aquaman and Mera are useless outside of water, which I liked, and look forward to seeing more of. It would help dispel a lot of misconceptions people have.
