DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

Agreed. I felt like Darkseid was just...gah. And I'm not a huge mark for the New Gods at all.

The Pandora back up was way cooler.

I got the vibe that Pandora is, essentially, Phantom Stranger in female form. She was told to never interfere with mortal affairs, but opted to ignore that rule and muck with reality... Just because she could.

I'm curious as to what DCnU Spectre is like, too.

Considering PS was completely unaltered, I'd be surprised if Spectre were any different.

PS should get an ongoing.

You ever read his past self-titled series'? They were quite good.

I don't know tbh; I thought Darkseid was fine. Maybe the fight could have been a bit, I dunno, bigger, but bar that I thought it was decent.

What are people not happy with?

I agree, this was one of my fav. darkseid's. Got stabbed in both eyes and barely slowed him down. Just made him angrier.

I HOPE Pandora isn't PS in female form. Looks like she has some fighting skills/super speed. A cosmic being with kung fu?

I have; great stuff.

His Blackest Night one-shot was my favorite tie-in for the event itself.

Agreed, I thought Darkseid did alright and he had to be bfr cause it looked like they would have no other way of dealing with him (till he returned in FC).

I loved the back part with PS and Pandora even more.

😄

I think Pandora will be an awesome character down the road. I'm already intrigued with HER story.

Him fighting like a brick, his OE being blocked, him being stabbed, etc. I dunno, this was DC's chance to restore him to his 'proper' levels... And they just didn't do that, imo. Seemed like the same 'ol Darkseid. srsly

I completely agree.

the brick thing was only him lashing out, I thought. It wasn't like he's going to stand there and let them punch him in the face, is it? the only time it got blocked was diana, wasn't it? for me that was fine, and to be expected.

I honestly thought he was portrayed better than the one from before, tbh.

If he was at his "proper" levels, then how were they supposed to beat him?

Of course the heroes will get their licks in, but in the end, he was too much for them physically. I seriously thought Superman was going to thrash him, but thank god he didn't solo. Darkseid was his superior here.

Darkseid isn't a h2h guy, though. There is really no reason for him to ever fight like a brick. Anyway, I would have liked to see it play out similarly to how it did in Superman: Confidential. Darkseid pops in, casually owns everyone just to show that he can... Then leaves. Let the heroes finally beat him in LATER issues.

Wouldn't have been so mediocre then, imo.

i wouldn't have minded it going the way you just said, but I honestly don't think it was mediocre. He did have his reasons for being on Earth, and i thought the way the h2h played out, fit.

I won't say it's perfect, but I was very happy with it, especially after the last issue.

Could have been worse.... But it also could have been a LOT better.

They could have done so much more with Darkseid as a character, but instead, it seemed like they just stuck with what they knew. I think that's what irritates me about it.

That's the thing though, this was a very brief appearance. It's a teaser more than an introduction, I think, and I'm not going to judge it just yet.

It is certainly possible that Darkseid was simply using this scuffle to 'weigh' the heroes, and thusly was not giving it his all (I certainly HOPE that's what he was doing.) But typically the first appearance of a hyped 'uber threat' tends to be their best. /shrug

...My fingers are crossed though.

Did you read one of my posts earlier? Dan stated that the New Gods in general will be playing an epic role soon in the DCnU.

Speaking of Geoff and Jim, a?*fan asked about Darkseid as well, wondering if he was going to be a big cosmic threat coming up to whatever DC's new 52 was building towards. The guy didn't think he was going to get an answer, but Dan Didio replied "yes." There is a reason an introduction to Darkseid was being set up in the first Justice League arc, being the first threat that they unite to battle. When he returns, more heroes will have to unite in order to stop him, giving us a new crisis event most likely.

Another fan asked about the Kord Industries and New Gods references in O.M.A.C. to which the panel replied was obviously intentional. There will be future references to these characters and many others.
