I like her, just not with superman. That's just a wet dream of some fans "gaiz, how awesomez would be superman having sex with wonder woman!!". It demeans both characters.

He's too good for her, I'll repeat it until it sticks 😛

This is what I think about this stupid, gimmicky relationship

But... DC wanted to make a bang and have WW date Superman, which to me doesnt even look like they care about the relationship itself, but rather what it means to the DCU. Like, if the prince of France married the princess of England, what that would mean to Spain and Italy in the middle ages. Not about the couple itself.

i don't see how it's demeaning at all, if done right.

that's a pretty bad analogy, imo.

Holy flying f*ck

Superman is now, officially I'd say far, far more powerful than before.

If there's a comic book that'd ever get me to masturbate, it would be this one.

I would have preferred they not have him display this level of strength so soon only because I hate when writers box themselves into a corner with superman and he becomes little more than a jesus allegory. Still super impressive none the less.

JL was okay, i thought. Looking forward to seeing Aquaman punch out Superman in the next issue, though.

Well... the art is pretty.

Christ, it's like the comic was written specifically for 12 year old kids, and/or berserker fanboys.

Idiotic crap like that is what's slowly, but surely, killing new DC for me. 👇

Lol. Well, agreed. They're well on their way to writing themselves into a corner with Superman. And the next time he struggles to throw a building or something, the same people with boners right now will turn on the writers.

But my disillusionment has been in place for a while, with both major companies. I think Transmetropolitan, or rather trying to go back to mainstream after it, was the last straw for me. My ability to stay with a title has been almost nonexistent since then.

It's been great for saving money though.

Probably, yeah.

How is this any different than before, when Superman could contribue to half a planet/moon move, in relation to him struggling with anything? Is it outrageous now, that he can move a planet, when before it was ok for him to struggle with building, because he could only move half a planet?

Let's not act like we're idiots here - this is just butthurt talking.

And unless those same people just got into comics, they're used to how the medium works. The same thing happens to every character in comics - be they Hulk, Thor, Surfer or whomever.

This bitchin' is unfounded and hypocritical.

Superman being capable of moving the planet (in a scene that mirrors All-Star) kills DC for you? Really, just a few pages?

Tell me what's really bothering you. Which character are you mad Superman beats?

New Supes easily pressed the weight-equivalent of earth for 5 straight days, while weaker than normal... And you're asking me why I think the feat is laughably idiotic? If it makes you feel better, I also believe pre-crisis feats like that were phucking dumb as well. Like I said: imo the scene seemed to be written for pre-teen kids, and/or berserker fanboys-- as that is really the only demographic I could see thinking it wasn't embarrassingly cheesy.

And I didn't say that showing "killed" DC for me... But it certainly doesn't help my feelings regarding the company as a whole. If I wanted to read 'kiddy' comics, I'd check out Mattel's Super Friends. :-/

If you like it, you like it. That's fine. But personally, I'm perplexed by the stupidity of it. /shrug

Yes, I'm asking you why you think this feat is laughably idiotic. He's not pushing planets with his bare hands, he's now super-breathing suns away - he's being tested on a scientific equipment that is used to measure his strength level. Are you mad that he is that strong? Do you think it's idiotic that he is - for no other reason than the fact that you don't want him to be? Did you think it was retarded in All-Star Superman? That's fine. I don't care.

But this doesn't make it 'kiddy' comics. At all. Scenes that are actually retarded are happening every month - scenes that really do seem as if they were written by kids, but there's silence there. Is this stupider than characters going through suns? Through blackholes? Destroying planets? Surviving supernovas? No, not at all. But when they happen to somebody like, say...

..Beta Ray Bill...

You basically masturbate to it.

Let's step away from the double standards and admit what's bothering you - and it's not that 'this is childish' - it's that the feat was made by somebody who you do not want to have it.

JL and GL New Guardians was a good read, JL was better then what I thought it would be but thats a good thing! 5 days and Superman hasn't been tested at his upper limits yet!!! Sweet!

You're acting like I'm "teh mad Superman hata!!111!!!1!" just because I think this particular feat was made for pre-pubescent boys, and/or berserker Superman fanboys-- this is false. I've always liked Superman (I've debated for him many-a-time), but imo the feat IS childish and cheesy. Sorry my opinion is offending you, but I feel how I feel.

Also, you keep comparing that scene to A/S Superman. That is a false distinction, imo. A/S Supes pressed up vastly inferior weight(200 quintillion tons) ONE TIME during his series, while he was at the PEAK of his power. New Supes lifted vastly MORE weight(nearly 6 sextillion tons) for FIVE straight days, while WEAKER than normal. Just because both scenes were being monitored by scientific equipment, doesn't mean they're the same level of stupid. Furthermore, A/S Supes was an ALTERNATE version of the character, of whom Morrison outright said he'd be painting in a 'Silver Age light'.

Listen, you like the feat. You think it makes sense. That's great. I believe it is dumb, and cheapens Superman tremendously. DC got away from Silver Age cheese like that with COIE... Now they've started heading in that direction again. Kind of funny, I think. 👆

Ah, now this is the deflection/backlash I expected from you (and abhil, most likely.) Every feat you mentioned is a feat MANY heralds have been preforming for DECADES. Had Superman have preformed one of the feats you listed, I, personally, wouldn't have thought much of it-- I'd think: "Cool. He's back at his pre-reboot levels." Why? Because there are a lot more, and a lot better, ways to show the readers that Superman is getting stronger, without making said feats lulz-worthy comedy.

...But instead they opted to have him sit there bench pressing the weight-equivalent of a planet... For 5 straight days... While weaker than normal... That is dumb. Give Odin... Hell, give Galactus the same feat, and I'd STILL think it is dumb. The feat itself is purely moronic.

Anyway, coming from the guy who just said: "If there's a comic book that'd ever get me to masturbate, it would be this one"-- I find the latter part of your statement... Ironic, to say the least. 👆

What double standard?

The day I say it's "cool" that a character can bench press a planet for 5 straight days, is the day you can say I have a double standard. Until then, you're just deflecting. It upsets you that I think the feat is idiotic and childish, and you think it's 'teh awesomest'.

Differing opinions are what make KMC tick. Don't take it so personally. 😉
