The problem with the Diana thing is that it doesn't really gel with Wonder Woman's book, from what I've heard.
Only character acting anything like their ongoing is Aquaman. I don't think I will ever understand/accept Batman revealing his identity to Hal. As for Diana...Diana acts like a bimbo in JLA while she is much deeper and smarter in her ongoing. Right now I don't recall if she ever used a secret identity in her book.

I think since they fast-forwarded the books after the Darkseid arc, the characters bar maybe Hal and Diana (I haven't read her book so I can only go by what people say) have for the most part been acting consistently, I think.

I still think this JL book isn't set in the present as much as the current DC books though, tbh.

^ Justice League caught up to present time.

In an extremely clumsy turn of lazy writing after the opening Darkseid story arc, issues #7-8 are montage issues of their supposedly long-spanning career. In #9-12 you find out about David Graves, the guy who got famous writing about the Justice League right after Darkseid attacked. Eventually, him and his entire family succumbed to cancer. In a flashback scene to "4 years ago," Graves turns villain and eventually travels to Nanda Parbat. That's where the lost years get lost in a book about the Justice League's adventures that skipped over years of adventures culminating in Hal's resignation.

In any event, Aquaman is current and so is Justice League since they are sharing a crossover now.

I know all this. I've read it all. I just can't see why Johns would make it so different for no reason.

Anything worth reading this week?

JL and Aquaman. And that's the correct order too, seeing as this is a crossover.

Epoch in Justice League Dark?

Man, Johns is REALLY playing up Aquaman and the Atlanteans. Vulko, your average Atlantean punched Superman like a ragdoll.

Throne of Atlantis has been impressive so far.

I think that Johns is continuing from the Flashpoint event as far as the power structure goes.

Atlanteans and Amazons are mid level metahuman as far as physical attributes go, with specific advantages on each side.

Super Atlanteans (Aquaman) are presented as roughly equal to Super Amazons (Wonder Woman) likewise.

I don't think Superman was hurt, but he felt it.

Can't wait for the big JL dogfight in issue #16

Vulko was shown to have super-strength even before that, though.

Don't know if I agree, but we'll see.

Which parts don't you agree with PR?

I'm not sure Aquaman is equal to Wonder Woman. Johns might push him that far, but I don't think he's there yet.

He was there in Flashpoint.
If Johns is indeed using it as a guide, AQ will be on WW's level.

What make's this theory very plausible is that AQ's past in DCnU, is exactly the same with the one shown in Flashpoint, with the only difference being, the Atlanteans capturing him when he was 13 and killing his father.

The powers were the same, the upbringing was different.

And in Flashpoint AQ was beating WW in their fight.

But I see your point.

I haven't read Flashpoint, so I can't comment.

If Johns did make him Diana's equal, though, that would be an absolutely massive amp.

I agree.

Thing is that Johns didn't mention any upgrades or amp.
Since he started writing Aquaman he made it natural for him to be able to duke it with class 100s.
Remember AQ was bringing it to Despero, and that was a story Johns wrote.

That's not the same thing, though.

Sure, Aquaman has always been strong, and could briefly last against people like Diana or Despero (even Hawkman hurt him, in fairness), but in anything resembling a full on fight, he's not their equal.

Johns wouldn't have to say it was an amp. If Aquaman is stated as, or shown as, Diana's equal, that's still an amp in that he's being portrayed at a significantly higher level than before.

I believe the most Johns is going to do, is show that in DCnU Atlanteans are all superhuman by default, with AQ being more powerful due to his heritage.

The fight in JL 16 will show were they stand, but I don't think we'll get a caption like "Aquaman is clearly WW's equal" or something along those lines

So far, Johns has been pretty consistent in showing us that Aquaman is stronger and more physically durable than before. Which is a good thing, obviously.

I mean, a year ago If I'd say that Aquaman would give the Thing a good fight, I would have been laughed off of the forum, because his showings of that nature were few and far between. Now, with Johns at the helm in the DCNU, it's not looking so ridiculous anymore, and I hope it continues.

Agreed.

If he kicks ass in the coming issues, I'll be happy enough.

Aquaman was well written for a very long time, but now he's getting the exposure to go with it.
