Wasn't there an Earth 2 as well?

Yeah, there is an Earth 2 title.

When does the H'el arc end?

Nrama: When Superman was revamped for the New 52 launch in 2011, there was a feeling he had grown stale. Do you think there's a chance he can grow stale again, and how would you like to see DC and future writers prevent it?

Morrison: Well, I mean, I think if that was to happen, it's going to take a little bit of time to happen. And hopefully we've established a personality for him that's quite easy to reproduce.

For me, everyone has to remember -- and I'm sure I don't need to tell these people, because they're all professional people who've worked it out for themselves -- but for the sake of the fans, we only have to remember that this new Superman is a tough guy, but he's kind-hearted and gentle. There's a distance between this one and the guy we saw throughout the 2000s, who was a bit more riddled with self-doubt and confusion. This is a Superman who absolutely believes what he does is right, all the time, because he's Superman, and he's right all the time because he's Superman.

It's kind of allowing him to be what he was meant to be, which was our best ideal for what a good guy would be. You know? And he takes no shit, and he stands up for people about the bullies. And he's that guy, you know? He's tough. That's the main thing.

Nrama: It sounds like a key to this new Superman is that he's confident.

Morrison: Yes, absolutely. Confident is the word. That's who he is. He knows who he is. He's not a man who suffers from self-doubt. There may be occasions and it does go wrong, and I think that's interesting, but even when he's down, he always finds a way back. You know, we can see Superman in the state of vulnerability, but by the turn of the page, he'll be figuring something out. And I think that's the important thing to keep in mind. He always saves us.

Phantom Stranger was decent. Nice little scuffle between PS and Spectre.

Yeah it was, the cover was sweet! Knew that dog was going to come into play sooner or later!

Yep, good take on Supes, too bad other writers wanted to have him whinning.

New Cancelation

Mostly no surprises- I doubt anyone here's going to shed a tear for Firestorm or Savage Hawkman. Heck, did anyone know Firestorm was still coming out?

But among them, and more surprisingly, is Sword of Sorcery, the Amethyst book (issue #7 will be the last- right now it's on 5).

That attempt to get female readers certainly didn't last long! They didn't even wait to see how the collections did.

Female readers often transfer over from manga and like digest formats, resulting in high sales there. That's in large part how Marvel's Spider-girl stayed around for 130 issues despite having quite low-but-steady comic sales.

I'm pretty pissed about Team 7 and I Vampire, but could care less about the others. I'm quite happy with the creator shifts, too.

Hm, I bet I, Vampire had a lot of female readers.

It also had good trade sales (like, bestsellers list good). So yea, that's a loss.

Yeah, I mention many pages ago that it was on NY best sellers in trades, so I don't know why they canceled it and they didn't address it either. As for a lot of female readers? I wouldn't know.

1) Vampires
2) Main hottie didn't wear a shirt and has an angsty past
3) Powerful vamp-queen.

So yea, I think it has a good deal of female fans.

Could be, but then again, it didn't have much hype or advertising. Which is one of the reasons it didn't sell.

Ales Kot will be writing Suicide Squad! Love DC's approach in bringing a bunch of new indie talent amongst their ranks. It's a breath of fresh air sometimes.

God dammit DC...

The 'low unit sales, high trade sales' is one reason I suspect a lot more female readers than normal.

One of the few benefits of their high writer turnover- lots of new people are getting exposure (well, in the cases where they make it to the book, a couple have been announced then changed).

What? They're not cancelling Aquaman! 😛
