Haha, WTF indeed. Superboy is the son of Lois and Superman.

**** that amazon.

You know, that actually isn't a bad idea - assuming the cover is accurate and not purposefully misleading.

I did like the whole Lex and Superman being the "fathers" of Superboy pre-reboot, but in the New 52, if Lois was the donor of Superboy's human DNA, that adds an interesting dynamic to all three characters, especially since Lois and Superman aren't romantically involved. Them having a "child" would make things extremely awkward, and provide for some interesting plot points.

I can dig it.

Like what? MOST lesser titles don't sell the way both companies want them to. If they did, they would still be around.

May I point out some of them do last for quite some time? Like, DC is dropping books after 6, 12, etc. issues. Immortal Iron Fist was a lower tier title that last 30+ issues (27 + 5 specials). Secret Six lasted 48 issues (36 + two 6 issue minis).

Avengers: The Initiative was a teen-heroes book, rarely a chart busting type of comic since most of the characters in the are new, and it did 35.

I was just looking at Marvel's list of books this month and they hardly have any mystic and cosmic titles. Why? Because they aren't big sellers like Avengers or X-Men titles.

The reason is they're planning a big cosmic re-launch with a new Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy book, and the previous Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy book each ran for some time- 36 and 25 issues respectively, with very stable sales, they ended primarily because of story reasons.

Heck, GotG got enough acclaim I hear they're doing a movie based on it.

Some up to issue 12-19 or so. That's a decent run.

12-19 isn't much of a run, especially with 6-issue stories being the norm, not enough time for proper conclusions/wrap ups, and often two different creative teams in those 12-19 issues.

Some of the books like Amethyst will not sell as good as a Gail Simone book like SS or an IF book as well, so I don't think that's a good example. I, Vampire lasted 19 issues, despite it's low sales. Books get cancelled, it's a business. Still a solid run.

Mind you the same for Men of War and GI Combat. There is no market for war books.

Considering that every writer outside of Johns and Lobdell on occasion has flat out ignored the Diana thing, I'm not so sure.

So much for giving this new relationship a chance...

DC has had an unusually high turnover of books since the reboot. It's worrying, imo.

I think there is a lot more to SB than the son of Lois and Clark. We'll see.

This is a good, short read.

As a person who has been in this business for a good long while, I expected from the moment I heard these two books were announced for them to have short runs. I expected this based on a mix of all the factors discussed in this post — the unwillingness of readers to read comics featuring diverse characters, the insular nature of mainstream superhero comics culture, and a generic look to the first preview material of said comics.

But DC Comics did try — as they have done many times before — to increase the diversity of their heroes. And they did promote the titles, not leaving them to die in the cradle unloved. So in the quest to have a more inclusive slate of superheroes and comic creators, what is the next step for them here?

It’s worth pointing out that DC has been continually trying when it comes to the New 52 and diversity: With books like Mister Terrific, Static Shock, Blue Beetle and Voodoo, it feels as if DC has been attempting to create new, non-straight-white-male leads with little-to-no response from the audience for months now. Both Katana and Vibe may have seemed like they’d have more success with the Justice League connection, but perhaps the only franchise at DC that is truly bulletproof right now is the Batman family – Batwing is still around, this far into the New 52, after all…

Gallaher’s point is well-made, too; if we want to have a more diverse slate of superheroic characters, and publishers are trying to provide it but the market doesn’t support it, what is to be done?

Lois's superior genes should've made Superboy stronger 😎

😂

From what they have been hinting he has Lex's genes and Superman's. Don't know why they would use Lois's.

Only Lois's genes can whip Clark's into submission 😉

Eww. Dude.

NEW Trinity War news. Not much, but so far it sounds pretty cool.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/2013/04/07/justice-league-trinity-war/2050575/

The central mystery, conflicts between the teams and assorted plot points of "Trinity War" are all part of one big impending danger that is approaching the DC Universe, says Johns.
"It's not going to end wrapped up in a bow," he says. "Something really, really major happens that kicks off some pretty crazy stuff at the end of August."

I'm just gonna enjoy this.

I know you hate Diana, but it's ridiculous.

Imagine if the position was reversed?

I'm amazed that DC is letting Lobdell write Action and Superman. I'm sure it's only a temporary thing, though.

Its not ridiculous at all. I'd have accepted the reverse too.

It is ridiculous, and I can't believe Johns signed off on this given how much work he did in redefining Superboy.

It's DC undermining the Superman/Diana relationship yet again, even though they market them as a couple in memorabilia and valentines comics.

Enough writers have flat out ignored the relationship, and this is just the final nail in the coffin.

TBH, I know that Superman will end up with Lois. It's as inevitable as anything. I guess I was just hoping that I could actually enjoy it while it lasted, but I'm not even allowed to do that. I wish they'd actually do credit to Superman, and not have him pining for Lois even though he's in a committed relationship.

It makes him look bad, which is worst of all.

They probably just shot Superman's DNA into Lois' DNA and created a clone or something.

Or blasted some jizz in Lois' vag with a turkey baster

lol.

I honestly don't mind how they did it, assuming that's what it is.

So I just read both issues of JLA...

TBH, I'm not that impressed with it. I also don't like Johns and how he treats Catwoman.

I really dug the second issue of JLA. Secret Society seem interesting enough.
