So. JSA Spoilers...

Spoiler:
they killed Alan Scott.

I realize the universe reset means that it probably means nothing anyway. But really? Who thought that was an appropriate ending?

Maybe he'll at least stay dead and won't have to suffer through the change. Or maybe it was a marketing decision, since he'd feel all awkward standing around listening to people say that he and his buddies weren't the earliest super heroes.

Either way, he's my favorite DC character by a lot, and I'm actually hoping they bookend his life before the Flashpoint era starts. Might be easier to remember him that way instead of needing to juggle the different versions. But if DC needed to flash me a middle finger to ensure my apathy, mission accomplished.

was it

Spoiler:
scythe

Spoiler:
No. It was an even more powerful baddy that Scythe was trying to unleash. Alan had to let the Starheart loose to deal with him, and containing it again once he beat the guy is what killed him.

Oh, oh, it was

Spoiler:
the god that steals powers and grows from them.
, right?

Was there an origin for that guy?

Yes.

And not really.

Seriously though.

Spoiler:
There's like a half-page funeral scene with a coffin that has a lantern on it. Then Jay say "We move on, we endure" or something and it's over. Nice send-off for a legend.

🙄

The caveat is that they're working under massive time limitations due to Flashpoint, so we can't expect full treatment. But if that's the case, why do it?

What. The. Hell.

God damn it, that pisses me off. That whole thing leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

This.

He had quickly become one of my favorites, and I'm sure that's how a majority feels.

I bet he'll be back when they relaunch the series. Just in a different way.

Still, even if he comes back, how is that ending not trolling?

Just read it. Not a bad issue and a pretty epic feat for Alan. Didn't much care for the art and still intrigued on what DC has plans for JSA.

Right, I agree. So A. the last issue meant nothing, or B. it won't be the same character. Or both.

Screw DC right now.

Prep Man is way too positive about this.

I have no doubt that Alan will be back one way or another. Magical energy cannot be destroyed, it can only change shape- a fact DoV (and many other stories) have touched on in the past.

But yeah, his death -hell, the entire issue- was extremely rushed. I understand DC is pressing hard to make way for The New 52, but considering Alan is a legend of the comic book mythos, you'd think they would have spent a little more time on his 'death'.

At least he wasn't replaced by his dog.

... This time.

I'm not the one to get attached to comic characters. They die, come back, it's a common thing in comics for a long time.

Some Superboy stuff

Resurrection Man

JLA Dark

There's no need to get testy.

In any case, they're just espousing some critical opinion here. You're simply endorsing everything and anything, which gives the impression of an uncritical approach. Whether or not that's your intention, it's how you're being perceived.

Also, what's the point if we don't get attached to comic characters? Seriously, if we never did that, why follow them? Comics succeed because they make us care.

testy? you guys keep poking fun at me because im into the relaunch and that i post pics. im just stating my views on things. whether you agree or not, i could care less. im not even going to argue anymore. there will always be people against and for something.

I'm pretty excited about a lot of the reboot, primarily the Superman books, Aquaman, some of the Batman stuff, and of course I'm tentatively excited about JLA.

I'm just hopeful that we get some good books, and that they do away with the Smallvile-ised Green Arrow.
