I thought that was the point. They aren't partners. Bruce is his father, and he has to show Damian who's boss. I honestly got the impression they were exagerrating Damian just to show in future issues how much Bruce is going to mould him as Robin.

Or did Morrison do that already?

That only works if Bruce comes off as being semi-reasonable. When he starts crying like a girl about his past he comes off as the immature one. It was years ago and he still acts like a child. A simply head nod in crime alley would have sufficed, not a long winded expostion about how he can still see his mothers pearls drop.

Soon as I read that this crossed my mind- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXkF2viFDgU&feature=related

The dialogue was terrible, forced and out of character. Bruce's actions were forced, terrible and out of character.

It seemed like Tomasi was talking to me, instead of actually writing the characters, or trying to write some epic dialogue that felt so melodramatic, that I wanted to punch a puppy in the face, full force.

"Did you know why I set the clock at this time? 10:48 on a september night was the time that all sense left my life."

"[...] first and last time on the anniversary of their deaths. Before the street is buldozed and brought back to life for working people with dreams. "

"Because I'm tired of marking the night I watched my father bleed out from his sucking chest wound and my mother from a hole in her throat."

"We'll go topside when I say we go topside, not a second before.

I can still see my mother's pearls rolling into the sewer. The sound of her pearls hitting the water seemed as loud as the gunshot that night."

That is dialogue just from 3 pages. 3 pages.

etc.

All I could think while reading that was this:

Damien should have told him "Are you going to cry now? Is that what's going to happen?" but he was too busy being superficially characterized.

Beat me too it.

Well yeah, I agree with you on that. I just got the impression that he had a good idea, but executed it badly (the writer).

read batwoman and deathstroke, damn good

grifter, i thought was ok, but is a title i'll keep an eye out on

Justice League # 1 is going into a 3rd printing.

My local comic shop is now selling JL # 1 for $15. This looks like it is going to be a big bonanza for DC.

With these I might be able to put my kids through college after all

I didn't care for Frankenstein that much... It reminded me of Hellboy.

Whats wrong with Hellboy? 😠

Bit early but:

Week 3 of the New 52:

Batman #1
Batman #1 pencil cover
Batman #1 variant cover
Birds of Prey #1 volume 4
Blue Beetle #1 volume 3
Captain Atom #1 volume 4
Catwoman #1 volume 3
DC Universe Presents #1
Green Lantern Corps #1 volume 3
Justice League #1 volume 4 third print
Legion of Super-Heroes #1 volume 7
Nightwing #1 volume 2
Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
Supergirl #1 volume 5
Wonder Woman #1 volume 4

A few interesting ones there I think... Batman obviously. BOP? Maybe. Catwoman is a definite, as is GLC, Nightwing and probably Red Hood. REALLY want to see what Azzarello has in store for Wonder Woman too.

Nothing. We just don't need a Hellboy wannabe running around. 😛

Good ahah

😛

Hellboy isn't a new concept, though.

USAtoday grades first half of the relaunch.

Which is kind of Galan's point i'd assume.

Pretty much everything is borrowed or been done, though.

I haven't read Franky yet, but if Jeff introduces some new concepts and big ideas then I don't mind.

Any opinions on Resurrection Man or Superboy?? I keep on hearing good things about it.

Just read Grifter. Overall, I liked it. A setup issue, but had some really good art.

Superboy was solid. Looking forward to the next issue.

Sell them now while you can make some money cause they won't even get cover price in a few years.

RM was nothing spectacular. It had the exact same premise as his last series.

Was it bad? Is it worth continuing?

Not bad, just not original.

Tomasi's Bruce is insane. Dude needs to medicated and child services needs to take his kid away to a safe home. lol

What about Bruce sending that paper boat down the sewer, and when Damian asks him about it he basically says "It's my boat, I'll do what I want with it!"
