DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

Just read Frankenstein. It was fantastic. I loved Ray Palmer's role and how SHADE's base of operations is a microscopic city, where the only way to enter is through teleportation and shrinking. Tech created by Palmer.

Anyone see the new pic of the New Ray? Good creative team, IMO.

Ray Palmer is in Frankentstein? Dammit, now I gotta read it.

Yes, he is apart of SHADE.

Lost all interest in Franky

^ Yeah, the first issue could have been a lot better.

DC Dark for December!

-John Constantine in I Vampire looks cool.
-Demon Knights sounds awesome. Merlin?
- Franky on Monster planet sounds intriguing.

Man, I have to say, I didn't like Deathstroke #1.

Now, I liked the art and the action was good, but I guess I'm too mired in the old characterization of Slade Wilson ala Marv Wolfman. This portrayal of Slade had next to no moral center (albeit warped) and the ending of the book didn't seem right to me. Granted, modern writers have turned Slade from gray shaded anti-hero to card carrying villain of the week, but still, I've never been a fan of said portrayal of Slade.

I felt bad for those kids. They didn't see it coming. DS is someone you don't want to mess with in the DCU.

I haven't been blown away by any of the books I was looking forward to, and some of the ones I was most anticipating (ie Grifter / Deathstroke) were the biggest disappointments of the lot. 🙁

I really liked Grifter. It was a setup for sure, but once things get rolling, we'll see more action. Edmondson is definitely making Grifter more interesting, IMO.

This week Green Latnern and Demon Knights stole the show I felt. Loved both of those. Also liked Batman and Robin more than I thought I would. Itend to dislike the idea of Robin. I like the lone wolf Batman, but Damian annoyed me less than I thought he would.

Red Lanterns was decent enough but probably won't continue to buy it. Also read Batwoman and thought it was solid enough, but wasn't hugely engaged and so probably won't continue it.

IGN said it well:

Deathstroke #1 brings the badass, sure, but it doesn't provide much else to really sell this series to anyone. The book ends with an intriguing tease that could be enough to bring people back for issue #2. But I fear Deathstroke #1 is just too superficial for its own good. I'm not saying I want to read about Slade Wilson analyzing poetry and taking women on dates through the park, but I definitely want more than what was offered here.

It was enjoyable for me, but then again, I'm just a casual Slade fan. I can see why the 'die hard' fans may not have been impressed, but lets be honest... Slade's been written that way for quite a while now. /shrug

I thought Deathstroke was pretty fun. It wasn't high art, but it did the job.

All the more cause to be disappointed that DC missed out on the one shot they have at doing him over right.

I'll be honest, this was one of the few things I was looking forward to with the reboot...then I saw the writer's interview and I was like -_-;

something tells me that ill prefee this deathstroke over the old one. in the long run. he actually scares me. the old one became a little bit of a joke.

You sound like you're reading from the interviews and parroting what the writer said about his own work lol.
