STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- City in the Clouds

"If he hadn't had backup, he wouldn't have been able to defeat me like that," Rianna says. "We have to get him somehow...and I'll be honest, I'm much more of a fighter than an investigator."

"I thought Jedi were meant to be passive, only drawing their swords when necessary to preserve the peace?"

"Jedi are as different and individual as anyone else. My Master was skilled in diplomacy; I'm much more of a warrior. It's just where my talents lie," Rianna replies. "It doesn't mean that I jump to fight right away...but I'm not afraid of doing so if necessary, and it's what I'm good at."

"Making up for a lack of diplomatic prowess with the pointy end of a sword?" Zaltus teases.

"Not exactly," Rianna snaps, mildly annoyed at that comment.

Zaltus shrugs.

"I wanted to be Administrator at one point," Zaltus says. "But the Administrator is the people person. My talents lay elsewhere."

Zaltus pats the gun at his hip.

"I am the top marksman in the Guard, and I earned my way to Captain by flaunting it."

"Handy skill to have...still, it's not something I exactly like to flaunt, unless it's absolutely necessary."

"Really?" Zaltus says. "You just identified yourself as a warrior to me. I hardly think you would have done that were you not proud of what you can do, or how well you do it. 'Warrior' is not the word I would associate with a Jedi Knight. But you do."

"I am proud of my skill. It's what I do, and I do it well. But it's not something I generally show off. It...tends to put people off."

"Why is that?"

"When I was training, it was mostly a case of people not liking being outdone by someone younger than them," Rianna replies. "I don't know why I'm even talking about this. I just am at a loss as to what to do next. Just keep hitting dead ends on this investigation..."

"You aren't talking to a fellow Knight," Zaltus reminds you. "I cannot imagine that my talents with a pistol match yours with a saber. I am sure something will come to you."

"True, I suppose," Rianna says. "And maybe the Guards will actually be able to get something from that blasted droid..."

Okay. So whatever little info they have on this rocketeer guy, Rianna wants to see it. Like, what crimes they think he was involved in, who he is, what he did before deciding to cause havoc...also, any other trouble that's happened since Rand arrived on Bespin.

"We'll see," Zaltus says. "Situations such as that one can be tricky once the Guard get involved. Once official weight is thrown around, attempts at bribery suddenly disappear, along with any offered infomration. The underworld doesn't like those on top getting involved."

The profile for the Rocketeer is basic. His name is Rook, a humanoid mercenary from a primitive world. He specializes in hand-to-hand combat and explosives. In addition to his mercenary status, he has been contracted multiple times for demolitions work on abandoned mining platforms around Bespin.

He has been suspected of numerous assaults. Whoever his employers were for each incident likely wanted intimidation rather than a kill.

Any places that they know of where he'd commonly hang around while not going about assaulting people?

A handful of bars and common areas in the lower levels.

In the mean time, the officers sent to talk with the droid come back with nothing- the droid at first denied possessing information, then threatened to delete it if they persisted. Figuring the Jedi would probably be unhappy with them if that happened, they left.

"Looks like that might be in your hands," Zaltus says. "I can get the Administrator to put pressure on the establishment itself. Try to find out who owns the droid and work from there."

"Great. The amount of money the droid wants for a bribe is far more than I have available, even if I were to pull together all of my funds," Rianna says, mildly annoyed.

"See if you can bargain with it," Zaltus says. "The Admin wouldn't be okay with us dumping funds into something like this. Maybe you can find something else it wants. Or, as I said, go beyond the droid- bug whoever it reports to."

Rianna would prefer to find who owns the droid/who it reports to before she attempts to reason with it again, just in case that doesn't work.
