STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Life Debt

"Not at all," Senator Galeas says. "Provided you are meant to be here. Who have you accompanied?"

"Kor Valter of Valtraxa," Vera-Kin says. "I am an attendant of his. We happened to be in the system and took an interest in the problem."

They respond well to the mention of Valtraxa.

"We weren't expecting a Kor to grace us," Senator Galeas says with sudden good humor. "You aren't a Valtraxan but they do acquire people here and there. What does the Kor make of this situation?"

"He is leaning toward having the raptors captured," Vera-Kin explains. "It is clearly harming the Wookiees' ecosystem having them here, and they would be protected back on Lanzar, if caught and transported. Where do you stand, Senator?"

"As I was telling Senator Padom," Senator Galeas says, gesturing to the Ithorian, "the raptors should be removed from the plane of the living. It would be too costly to drag them, clawing and biting, back to Lanzar."

The Ithorian Senator responds that they are living creatures and should be treated with respect, maybe even left in the jungles though perhaps maintained via Wookiee hunting parties.

"What if it turns out that they are sentient?" Vera-Kin says. "Have efforts been made to determine whether or not they are?"

Senator Galeas will admit that nothing of the sort has been done.

"It's too dangerous," he says. "Anyone trying to determine that is just asking to be eaten."

Vera-Kin will inquire if its possible that some group could be organized to investigate such a thing. Maybe a coalition of Senate troops, Wookiees, etc.?

She asks if the same could be done for capturing the beasts, or if the Senate would be willing to contribute men to kill the raptors, if they decide to rule that way.

The Senate representatives are not interested in sacrificing their bodyguards in pursuit of carnivous killing machines. Senator Galeas thinks, if anyone should do it, it would be the Wookiees.

The same goes for capturing the raptors.

"What about eradicating them? Would the Senate commit any forces to that?" Vera-Kin inquires, thinking she already knows the answer and irritated that the Senate really is just here to mediate, not assist in solving, the problem.

If anything, Vera-Kin could probably investigate herself... she might talk to the Wookiees about doing that on their behalf to keep them out of danger too.

Senator Galeas says he could not guarantee any troop allocations from the Senate on this matter- kill, capture, or otherwise. Senator Pom echoes the sentiment. You suspect their reasons differ.

Vera-Kin could certainly go looking for carnivorous killer super raptors if she really wanted to. The enormous planet-wide forests of Kashyyyk are open to all who want to explore them, so long as they have no foul intent. It is, after all, a large source of tourism revenue for the Wookiees.

That does leave the problem of actually locating the raptors yourself when you have an entire world to search.

Maybe the Wookiees know where they are?

"Would your stances change at all, depending on whether or not evidence was found suggesting the sentience of the raptors?" Vera-Kin asks. "It certainly would be easier to slaughter them but it might not be the right thing to do."

Senator Galeas is unsure his stance would change much. It would still be Republic men risking their lives for a local system problem.

Senator Pom says he might change his mind. Currently he does not want any Senatorial commitment to the actual resolution of the issue.

Vera-Kin will keep that in mind. She wants to know if they plan on swinging the vote one way or the other since they were discussing it so fervently.

She also wants to know what they were debating since Pom and Galeas apparently agree.

They were debating the sentience of the raptors.

Hmm... well they are pretty unwilling to budge. Are they the most important Senators here? Does Vera-Kin know anyone else?

Otherwise, time to talk to the Wookiees.

Senator Galeas is a pretty influential man in the Senate, being from a wealthy, historically Republican Core World such as Thespia. Senator Pom has some sway but Ithor is out in the Mid Rim.

The Wookiees will receive you if you wish to speak with them. The Head Chieftain of Rwookrrorro (the capital of Kashyyyk) represents the Wookiee faction in this debate. The Wookiees growl and roar at each other in debate, but the Head Chieftain, Grarrwak, greets you with brooding silence.

Vera-Kin will introduce herself as an associate of Kor Valter and ask the Wookiees if they have reached their own consensus on the raptors. She also asks if they have been keeping track of the Lanzar raptors and know where they are.

The Chieftain says they are still discussing the matter (probably as a pair of Wookiees wrestle and break something nearby), but yes, they know where the Lanzar raptors are. He wants to know why you are interested in their location.

Vera-Kin will tell them she wants to investigate the sentience of the raptors, since no-one has done that yet.
