Odin VS Galactus

Spiderman viewing the mental battle between Galactus and Thanos... could say the very same thing.. yet we know Galactus is above Thanos. Being that are clearly way below these two means very little.

The dialogue and what we're shown from Fraction shows us that Odin and Galactus are battling one another on even terms in their designated field of battle. As of now, I don't see how you can take anything else from it.

It could go both ways.

But you do have a good point. In Thanos Imperative, SS mentioned to Quasar that the battle between the Galactus Engine and Galactus/Celestials/Proemial Gods was literally beyond their comprehension.

And the Galactus Engine>>>>any 1 of those that were opposing it.

I'll give Fraction credit for not having it be just another energy blast orgy. But a TP battle is such an anti-climactic way of portraying it, esp given his quote from USA Today.

first battle between was ok

be nice to see if fraction puts odin in the destroyer with the worldheart vs big g

now that b badass

time will tell

Galactus > Odin

Idc who wins in the fight.

You're forgetting a significant degree of context

Thor drove off G after he was weakened by the battle
weak and hungry Galactus fought the PF for a while
IB stalemated a weakened Galactus
Hunger isn't really a low showing, considering Hunger consumes entire dimensions.
Agamotto in his own realm
Hyperstorm<Galactus as G feeds on hyperspace and hyperstorm hasn't been seen since G dealt with him
2 vs. 1 is generally not pretty

My response was to zopzop in reference to Big G's overall winning percentage. Yea I know there were stipulations in each fight. You basically said the same thing I did with the exception of Galactus being weak and his fight with Hyperstorm. That would've been an sure win but it was still incomplete nontheless.

Damn.........can he get any sure bet wins unless he's all the way fully fed?

Does it really matter though? Everyone from Wolverine to Thanos, from Captain America to Molecule Man, none of those guys have power levels that inexorably decline unless they perform a certain function periodically and steadily. In other words, every other comic character is by default always fighting at an optimum level unless specifically inflicted with a handicap. Galactus is different. It's just the way the character was created.

OK. All I was saying was that it'll be nice to see him win sometimes without being fed. That's all.

I think the best we can hope for at the moment is that the battle between Odin/Galactus and Thor/Surfer will get progressively more intense in the following issues.

If that's the case, this arc will be great if you haven't read much Thor and got in the form of a TPB but on it's own, the battle was very mehtastic.

I would read Thor comics, but I'm heterosexual.

methinks thou doth protest too much..... (indicates sig....) 😖hifty:

Hmm all in all. Not the worst that could have happened..yet. Loads of peeps in this thread were making way to much of it before the scans of the comic were even posted. So far we have a Tp battle and thats it. Not too much has been displayed yet so people should stop counting their chickens before they've hatched. If Odin is gonna get into the destroyer against G then this battle likely has quite a bit left. Also have a feeling that the G was starving card could come into play soon ( chaos war and all).

The surfer Thor battle on the other hand has been terrible. From the way he is being portrayed you would think third injury was blood...inbetween his legs. Surfer just keeps talking and staring, and not actually fighting. Hopefully this fight gets better in the coming issues

I think the stance is "we can't understand how gods would fight, so I'm not going to try to draw it." We are just supposed to assume Galactus and Odin are doing something cool we can't visualize or understand.

Volstag is awesome.

Dude I see you in the alley behind that gay bar reading Thor all the time...

The issue in question also has the following lines of dialogue:

"How do beings like Odin and Galactus...fight? Could one simply not turn the other into a moth trapped in a jar or cause an inferno to erupt in his foe's skull?"

"Aye. Omnipotence has its down side. We are but pawns on their gameboard, Sif. We are their cannon fodder. Tis out job to distract Galactus...just as those cosmic demons summonded from the hand of Galactus will try to distract All-Father."

"Distract him from what?"

"Tis not for the likes of you and I to comprehend. We may be the gods...but this is a matter for those more godly than we."

Fraction's intent, as of now, is pretty clear. The fact that they're battling each other on the psychic plane/beyond what the gods can comprehend is only further driving the point home. Considering Odin and Dormammu battled each other in "chess" which was beyond Thor's comprehension and Odin had been compared to be a peer to Galactus before, why this is so shocking or PIS worthy is beyond me.

I'm not counting any eggs before they hatch, but what Fraction was getting at in this issue was pretty clear cut, imo.

I agree here...just have to really wait and see tho...not to much happen with either fight

I feel that odin's human like treats make him seem weaker then galactus. Big G is beyond good or evil and also has such an important role in the universe making him seem more powerful and god like...even if it is false

so hearing that odin is equal seems wrong to some i guess? idk

I'm still confident Odin will have to go destroyer or something to drive Galactus off further cementing Galactus' superiority. I could be wrong but then again I've never been wrong yet so what are the odds.

This. I have a feeling this is coming. Also think(hope as well.lol) that galactus may need the seed because his chaos war draining has made him weaker than he ever was or something.

Your assuming that's not just gonna be ignored or forgotten right?
