Yeah the whole thing with GG was lame....tbh
I'm evil so I'm gonna kill Spider-Man.

If someone is not familiar with the cartoon here is the episode with Lizard in it.Also the plot is almost the same as in the movie so don't watch if you don't want to get spoiled...

Spiderman TAS was like my favorite growing up! This brings back some memories lol

This was a good movie, I enjoyed it. Nothing spectacular or amazing though.

Spoiler:
Parker the skateboarder and his interactions with Gwen sucked. Lizard was better than I expected. A bit disappointed we didn't see his lizardmen in action.

Any ideas who was the guy in the mid-credits scene?

the only thing I think has been said is that it is not Osbourn. Since he seems to just vanish I say it narrows it down a little....not much though.

Watched this film last night it was awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Finally saw this. Thought it was pretty awesome. Movie did alot of things right, some wrong, but I can't begin to nitpick it based off of deviating from the source material. These Marvel movies for the most part are drastically being influenced by the Utimate Universe, which I f*ckin' hate, but it's keeping enough of the classic influence to stay afloat of my interests enough. It's also establishing it's own movie continuity shit, were it being advertised as a direct panel by panel translation of a graphic novel like 300 and Watchmen did, We'd all have reason to b*tch and moan about every single detail.

This movie, as a throwback to this:

It failed pretty hard. The Raimi films were a step closer, even though they had much fail on their end as well.

Now, as a throwback to this:

Film did a lot of things right. Wasn't a direct representation of it, but it was clear to me it was it's source material. The U-Verse had a different take on many characters and to me it makes sense to use this Peter since this one is aimed at a more current generation. He also needs to be pretty young to exist in a world where the Avengers are already established and such. This movie's Peter also came off exactly as the U-Verse's Peter. Tobey annoyed the shit out of me, and for that, this movie gets alot more interest.

However, if this film is stil relevent to the shit that's gonna happen in future Marvel movies like the Avenger's 2/3 or even just mention of this film's continued existance in forms of references and shit, it's not gonna feel like a total waste and brings a good unity to everything. If they flat out neglect the movie and it's sequels for a future Marvel-based reboot/origin story, I'm gonna feel like I wasted my time and money. So overall, that's a deciding factor in the importance this Spidey flick is gonna have with me, though I did think it was eons better than the Raimi trilogy. I like Raimi as much as the next guy, but his ass needs to stick to making comedy/horror films that we all enjoy watching. Though the first two were enjoyable, by the time the third came out, it was just a mess while some hold the second Spidey film as god-status, I don't, I hate Dr. Octopus. So there's that.

This film needed a Bruce Campbell cameo though.

I disagree that the movie is more like Ultimate. It was mostly like Amazing (even closer to Amazing than the Raimi flicks IMO) with only a few stuff from Ultimate added in there. All the characters introduced thus far act more like their Amazing counterparts, they have Gwen Stacy before MJ and she isn't anything like Ultimate Gwen Stacy in both looks and character, Captain Stacy and his death are both done like in Amazing, Doc Connors isn't a bad guy like in Ultimate but a good man that wanted to grow his arm back and cure millions of people in the same shoes as him, the Lizard looks like he did in his original appearance and his plot to turn everyone into Lizard-men is something he tried doing many times in the Amazing comics, Flash Thompson looked a lot more like Amazing Flash Thompson, Sally Avril is in the movie and she never appeared in Ultimate, Peter Parker looks a lot more like the Peter Parker from the Amazing comics (tall and with short hair as opposed to small and with long hair like in Ultimate) and the list goes on and on. Even Peter being in high school was taken from Amazing and had nothing to do with Ultimate. They wanted to take Spider-Man back to his early years as a crime fighter, which were in high school (he became Spider-Man at the age of 15 in the Amazing comics). So it really had nothing to do with Ultimate. Even if Ultimate Spider-Man never existed, this movie would have still had Peter in high school.

There were only about a handful of stuff taken from Ultimate:
1) Uncle Ben and Aunt May being younger
2) Peter's parents being scientists
3) Oscorp keeping and eye on him and being responsible for most of the villains he will have to face
4) Peter being bitten by a genetically altered spider as opposed to a radioactive one (which the Raimi films used too btw)
5) Peter's father working with Connors

And those are about all the elements from Ultimate used so far in this franchise.

Watching SM 2 againt cause it's on tv.... the train fight is pretty lame Pete get's in about 15 clean shots to Doc's face and he is not even phased....ermm

Personality wise, ASM's Peter came off to me as the Ultimate's one. To me it was how the movie overall presented itself, just felt more like an Ultimate tale with 616 establishment. Felt that way alot about the other Marvel movies that have been coming out. Though that's just me.

Fair enough then 🙂.

Idk I felt like it was a littler more 616 but definitely had ultimate mixed in there.

Sweet sig btw! Also how you been Scythe?

I think to me what did it was the webbing of the crotch, thought that part was funny, but that to me seemed like something Ultimate Spidey would've done. I remember playing the Ultimate Spider-Man game, when he totally rips on Shocker for being named Herman. It was good times, but it didn't seem like something the 616 one would do.

I am glad overall that much of the characters remained their own classic selfs.

Thanks, man. Been doin' pretty good, how about you?

I missed the spider sense part they didn't expain anything about it just showed that Spidey has good reflexes....

They didn't explain it, but definitely showed it. When the people on the tube were attacking him, every time they attacked him from behind he knew they were coming and defended himself. And you hear the "buzz" each time. So it was clearly more than just reflexes.

You also hear the buzz when he's with Gwen and jumps off the balcony. (Obviously warning him there's danger nearby).

I think they were avoiding stating things which have already been stated in S1. It's why we didn't hear the "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility line" because that line was already drilled in so hard in S1.

I think in this one it was both genetically altered and radioactive.

Looks like it's already passed the $500mill mark worldwide:

http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=spiderman4.htm

Think this should easily reach 700mill which is brilliant for a reboot. And still making Spidey the second biggest solo hero on the big screen after Nolan's Batman.

Cool glad it's doing well.

I know, thats why it cracks me up when I hear people -obviously bad tastes in movies, say that crapfest movie is the best comicbook movie ever. 😆 thats one of MANY pitiful screenwriting moments that make man-spider two such a joke of a movie.AMS is 100 times better than ALL of those crapfest Raimi movies COMBINED!!!!

I saw the movie today and I have one idea for who the guy was at the mid credit scene, the jackal. The look of the guy and his demeanor sort of reminded me of him and wasn't jackal somehow involved with peter's parents? Tie that with the close-up shot of parker's bloody handprint after he got shot and I immediately thought, "he's gonna get that blood sample and clone him."

That would be a crazy story arc to cover but they might do it. Very interesting theory!

@Scythe: lol Im doing pretty good!
