It was very underwhelming. Like It seemed like whoever made it got the basic concept of Spider-man but that the studio forced them to make a twilight movie and that the only comics he ever read where Daredevil.
Andrew Garfield was basically emo-Matt Murdock with weird ticks and tremors. A lot of the scenes with Gwen were just cringe worthy and you could see in Emma Stone's eyes her desire to say "what...what are you doing?". Emo-Black Suit Tobi Maguire could not chew that much scenery.

Just don't expect action right away. It takes ages to get into the real fight scenes, but when they happen they're awsome.
But I loved the whole build up story anyway, so I was entertained throughout.
Saw the movie. Awesome. Just simply awesome. This is Spidey at his finest. I am going to go as far as to say this is the best representation of Spider-Man outside of the comics. It has everything I wanted a Spider-Man movie to have. My only complaint is that the movie felt like it went a bit too fast and the pacing at the beginning seemed a bit fast. Other than that, loved it. I thought all the actors did a great job. Andrew Garfield is the perfect Spider-Man/Peter Parker. He is to Spidey/Peter what Robert Downey Jr was to Tony/Iron Man or what Christopher Reeves was to Clark/Superman. And when Andrew is in the costume, I can't tell the difference between his Spider-Man and the Spidey in the comics. He's STRAIGHT off the page. The way he moves, fights, swings, the way he jokes, etc. The Lizard was also great. Gwen was also great. There really isn't much to complain about but that's just my opinion. Bring on the sequel 😄!

I haven't seen it though I have been wanting since it was announced and I have been hearing a lot of mixed reviews but this is the first I have heard of him being a "non-nerd" in this movie. From the trailers he seemed to be legitimately nerd smart. In fact from the trailers I had got the feeling he was made to be much smarter then the previous 3.
Am I wrong? will I be disappointed about his intelligence?
Also I am kind of big on source material and I have been reading spidy since...well before I could read lol small changes don't "bug" me to much (haha see what I did?). So will I be disappointing in general?

I don't want to sound rude but did we watch the same movie? Because I have no clue what you're talking about. How exactly is Peter emo? There is nothing to indicate that. At all. AT ALL. Why is he emo? Because he wears a hoodie? That means nothing. I wear a hoodie like that a lot and I'm the exact opposite of emo. Because he's really pissed off in certain scenes? He's a quiet shy and socially awkward kid throughout the whole movie. The only time he cries or is angry is whenever he has a legit reason to (example: Ben's death). That is NOT emo at all.
Those weird ticks and tremors are what make Peter the socially awkward kid he is. He's supposed to be like that. He's supposed to be socially awkward. Those lines sound awkward because he is naturally awkward. And he's awkward like that in the comics too (especially in the comics taking place during his high school years). It's all taken straight from the original comics.
The tone is nothing like Daredevil or Twilight. Daredevil's tone is like Batman's and Twilight's tone is depressing. The movie had dark moments but it also had many funny moments (and when I say many, I mean many. Spidey was a wisecracker at his finest 😆 ) while also having a lot of lighter moments. I can't understand how you would find the tone to be too dark in, for example, the final act. There is no way anyone can find that act emo or too dark with the soundtrack they used.
And Peter was pretty much a nerd up till the moment he became Spider-Man. Not all nerds wear sweatervests, have their pants pulled all the way up, have acne, have a lisp, and have the nerd haircut with a spit curl added. That's just a stereotype and a stereotype quickly dying out. Maybe that was true 50 or 60 years ago but nerds have evolved like everyone else. There are nerds that dress normally or look less nerdy but still have the trademark glasses and are as nerdy and as socially awkward as any nerd can be. There are also nerds that skateboard and are not too good at it (like Peter's skateboarding skills before becoming Spider-Man. LOL). In fact, Peter was never the stereotypical nerd even in the original comics.
As for the Lizard, that's a taste issue and I can't say anything on it since you never specified what you didn't like about him.
He's intelligent yes, but he isn't Peter Parker. He isn't nerdy in any way or particularly likeable or empathetic and seems to have a much shittier relationship with his family and treats everyone like shit. His mannerisms are twitchy and he's just this quaffed, handsome, emo-dork. He looks like a hipster in training.
The lizard is just...not interesting.
Emma Stone is definitely a good Gwen Stacy and makes her fate sad and really I have no problem with any of the other cast or acting choices. The tone of the film really did feel more daredevil because it's just dark, nighttime stuff with plenty of angst and lots of vengeful uncle Ben stuff much more suited for Daredevil than Spider-Man.
It would be nice to have a Spider-Man movie hoping to capture the essence of Spider-Man instead of just having a vehicle for toy and product sales and a masturbatory aid for tween girls.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed. I think you'll love this movie if you're a big Spidey fan. As I said in my previous post, it's like they took the Spider-Man character right off the page when it comes to fighting, swinging, acrobats, sense of humor, and all that good stuff 😄 . And yes, he's very intelligent in the movie. Definitely a lot brighter than in the last 3 movies.
