You never see a movie where knights or warriors go into battle wearing full armour except for their helmets.
how many of those knights or warriors are nigh-invulnerable? Thor's helmet is more fashionable than it is protective.

So why did Loki maintain his helmet?
Made him look pretty darn impressive compared to Thor.

dunno. That's not really something i (or anyone except the director) can answer... it could be a personality thing, though; Thor likes and protects humans and wants to connect with them which is probably easier to do when you're not hiding your face. *shrug*

Yup, Loki's helmet is way more badass looking and it's also intimidating which is apart of his character.

Yeah it's not for the audience to question the director or art department's decisions...

Even when Thor got his chain-mail sleeves ready for battle, I thought that would've been ideal to don a helmet.

And as far as wanting to se Loki float/levitate....remember Magneto's floating grand entrance in the X-Men movies, that was pretty impressive.

And how is Magneto anything like Loki?

all Loki has is his magic and besides he's not really a demi-god.

You're seriously NOT getting the point are you Kaz?

When it comes to villains with EITHER mutant or Godlike powers, levitating into a room full of people to show fear & might would be a lot grander than just walking in...

I am getting the point

your trying to make out Loki is more powerful then someone such a Odin or Hulk.

No, I'm making the point that Loki is more powerful than a human being. He wanted humanity to kneel & worship him as a God....therefore, in my opinion, he should've appeared Godlike & bloody floated.

Or its just you nit picking over small things.

I'm sharing my opinions, Kaz.

The whole world relies on my opinions.

I just don't see how things would've changed if Loki was floating around the place or not 😬

Personally I think him using magic to surround that group of people on his own was way more impressive than just floating towards them.

^ Agree. The way he seemed to be teleporting around would be more intimidating than just floating in the air.

Guess there is another scene after all the credits, not a hint/spoiler for future movies though, just humor.

Alright, I've decided I'm going to see this with or without my friend today. Sick of waiting...

I think we were talking about this in the DKR thread... lol

I guess the US military didn't want anything to do with the avengers!! LOL what a load of crap see the artical below

You know all that military action that goes on in a lot of Hollywood blockbuster films? Well, the U.S. government usually likes to get involved to help filmmakers more realistically portray it.

This was not the case with "Marvel's The Avengers." The U.S. Defense Department pulled out because they deemed the film too unrealistic.

Perhaps it was the aliens. Or maybe it was the superheroes.

Well, it was actually the ambiguity of secret military law-enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D., portrayed in the film, that did "Avengers" in.

From a recent Wired report:

"We couldn't reconcile the unreality of this international organization and our place in it," Phil Strub, the Defense Department's Hollywood liaison, tells Danger Room. "To whom did S.H.I.E.L.D. answer? Did we work for S.H.I.E.L.D.? We hit that roadblock and decided we couldn't do anything" with the film.

(Not to deviate from the topic, but doesn't Strub have, like, the coolest job on the planet?)

One example of the U.S. military's lack of involvement in "Avengers" is the fact that a few of the military's latest stealth jets that appear in the film were actually added digitally by the studio -- they were not real jets provided by the Pentagon, Wired further reports.

The Pentagon has greenlit military involvement, providing drones and jets for films including "Iron Man," "Transformers," and "Eagle Eye." The secretary of the Navy even appears in the upcoming "Battleship," starring Rihanna and Taylor Kitsch, in theaters May 18th.

But wait.

Like "Avengers," "Battleship" also portrays an alien invasion. Isn't THAT unrealistic? (Maybe the Pentagon knows something we don't. *wink*)

Watch more from 'Marvel's The Avengers' (the first trailer flashes to multiple scenes depicting the U.S. military):

^^ Probably should put all that in a "quote" brah. I saw an article about that on Yahoo.

I just got back from seeing it. I will say that it was way better than it should have been. Joss Whedon did an amazing job of making something so ambitious work so well. The humor I think is what made it work, because it was a good mix of serious, but not taking itself too seriously. That made it fun. The action was great and really payed off at the end. Btw, the new guy playing Hulk is really good. He seems a perfect Hulk.

(I have trouble commenting on some of the visuals, though, because I went to a cheaper theater that I had never been to before and the screen was kind of dark or had bad contrast or something, so all the darker scenes (especially at the beginning) were really hard to see. Not going to that theater again, that's for sure...) But yeah...
