I know his whole persona throughout the comics was to never cross that line but I can't recall in Begins or TDK where he claims he will never kill.

I can't remember exactly. I think he says it in "Begins," when he's coming home with Alfred from the League of Shadows. He and Alfred are discussing becoming this strange being, Alfred's worried this is just another way for Bruce to "be bad." And then Bruce starts telling Alfred what R'haz Al Ghul was saying - you can be a symbol...

Or in "Dark Knight," I think they talk around it after Dent announces that he's the real Batman, or when Alfred talks about the mad man who "just wanted to watch the world burn."

Hmm, maybe it's not said specifically. But it's definitely implied, if not anywhere else, when the Joker is hanging upside down, I think he even says "Kill me! Kill me! Kill me!" and definitely when the Joker plays "chicken" with Batman on the Batpod.

Also when Batman says that he 'only has one rule.' Which is clearly that he won't kill anyone.

I always prefer the old ones because that is what I grewup with. And I use to watch the cartoon ones as well as a kid. Batman and Robin had there moments in the movie but you are right it should not had been made.

Give Burton a break. He opened A LOT of people's imaginations to the possibilities & potential of the Batman-verse on the big screen.
More importantly he brought Gotham city to life.

Can you imagine if we only had the Schumacher films to fall back on?

I like that he made everything so dark which I think is how Batman should be like. If you think of the nintys tv show it was very dark.
