I think it is because they focused the intimidation more on just Keaton's facial expressions (more of his eyes) since he couldn't really do a lot of fighting in the suit. Bale's Batman rarely shows his eyes, because they focus his intimidation on action (the way he fights).
The way I see Keaton's Batman is presented, he is a mysterious character, silent, brooding. His expression is his intimidation and he has very few lines. Bale's Batman is like a stalking animal full of rage and violence. Action is his intimidation. While I do think Bale's bat-voice is over the top during normal conversations (I prefer him doing the bat-whisper, like the first time he talked to Gordon in Begins and the time he talked to Gordon in the hospital in TDKR), I think it works well when he is interrogating a criminal (like with Flass in Begins and with Bane "where is the trigger" scene in TDKR).
The better Bruce for me is Bale. I see 2 characters - the carefree, arrogant, playboy image (the male Paris Hilton as what one the description I read somewhere would put it) and the real Bruce Wayne (when he is with Alfred) who is tortured, tactful, and calculating. I see his Batman as a third persona, the manifestation of all his rage and violence.
Keaton's portrayal of Wayne was more of a recluse, a person lost in his past & shy enough to be anti-social. Keaton didn't need to play the flamboyant playboy billionaire, he didn't need the playboy bimbos hanging around him.
A good example was how awkward & shy he was with Selina when he invited her over for a dinner date.

The film is great when it shows rather than tells. like when Gordon & Blake are just shown doing good detective work and stakeouts.Overall from start to finish its a good film.
With a little fine tuning it would have been a 8 or 9 out of 10 production.

Cloverfield is not a 1..... Black Ninja is a 1. Actally thats unfair cuz black ninja was funny enough to be watchable in the right mood due to its stupidity. But cloverfield had a decnet production value(Blair witch camera aside) and it had a decnet story up to a point. I say it was more of a 3. And Godfather is more of a 7. If it werent for Marlin Brando it woulda bin more like a 5. Tho Jimmy Caan is always good even tho he just played himself in the godfather.

I wasnt even commenting on weaknesses. I was more pointing out the comical nature of the nolan bane. As opposed to the comic bane. And are you talking about the batman and robin bane? Cuz ill take the nolan bane over that guy. With his one word vocabulary and inexplicable obedience to uma thurman.
Ah, well I was just referring to what you said about the painkillers and stuff when I brought up the weaknesses. And I wasn't referring to the Schumacher Bane in particular, just the mainstream Bane in general that uses venom and becomes a complete toothpick when the tubes that contains it gets kicked or pulled off, though I would be caught dead considering the Batman & Robin Bane to be the real deal.

I am eternally greatfull for that lol. I was just saying that nolan ruined bane unlike the way he treated scarecrow, rhaz, joker, and two face. He was attempting a more realistic approach in his movies and for some reason chose an extremely comic booky character to portray. When i origionally heard penguin and riddler were gonna be the villains years ago i thought that was a good choice. Instead like i said he took the bane premise and turned him into buzz killington making a prank call. I actually saw this movie in a batman marathon. All three films one ofter the other. It gave me a good basis for comparison. And i was sorely disapointed. And i totally saw talia al ghul coming.

I'm glad that they chose the one in the film. It's not quite the mask in the comics, and yet is still very faithful. The shape of the mask even has the shape of the eyes in the original Knightfall.

I wouldn't like Nolanverse batman to be mixed in with the justice league. They would all be in a dark ally discussing there plan and then Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Women would fly off. Flash would speed off. Batman would still be hooking up his grappling gun. Superman would fly up to him and say "hey you sure you don't want a lift?" Bats would respond *raspy voice*" No Im The Batman and Im the best". Superman would meet the league while they all waited on batman and say *I knew we should have gone with Aquaman"*facepalm*
