I wasn't aware Soul Society knew the extent of Orihime's powers. I also don't believe Mayuri would share knowledge of his best stuff with them.
Yes, I know the problem. Ever since Hiyori survived there should be no excuse in Bleach for anyone to die of injuries, short of them just being eradicated. Kubo absolutely shot himself in the foot there.
However, one of the biggest problems in Bleach is the lack of tension. No good guys die. I'll take whatever crappy rationalization I can make for Sasikibe being killed if only because allows tension. Is Kubo breaking the logic of his world? Absolutely. But **** me if the logic in Bleach has ever made sense.

You would have a point were it not for the fact that Sasakibe dying is less emotionally relevant than when Mayuri killed some of his subordinates. Stop being dumb.
You seem to think we have to give a shit about Sasikibe for there to be tension. We don't. All we really need to know is:
These new guys are capable of sealing Bankai(why Ichigo got out of that is a mystery).
These new guys are able to actually kill a Shinigami, which is more than any of the Espada managed to do.
These new guys apparently casually killed one of the stronger lieutenants who was Captain class, though admittedly this is weaker since Sasikibe's onscreen showings are less than impressive.
This all equates to them showing that they are strong, have strange techniques, and are competent enough to kill their opponents without much trouble. A competent threat creates tension.

We do.

Sasakibe dying has nothing to do with that.

I'm sorry, are you under the delusion that people literally believed Shinigami were entirely immortal?
We've seen Shinigami die.
See: Tousen, Gin, Kaien, those random guys Mayuri blew up, etc.

If by "casually" you mean "with several squads" then yes you are correct.
Note that we didn't actually see the fight.

Yeah no.
I'm sorry, but I'll wait until someone of actual relevance dies before I start fellating Kubo's cock.

....No. 😬
The fact that a Shinigami, a good guy with a name, died outside of flashback proves the story is willing to kill other Shinigami who are good guys with names. For lack of a better word, it makes things "edgy."

Several squads that got into Soul Society undetected and managed to massacre the shit out of Squad 1 while declaring war. Numbers are even, I assume.
No we didn't. They could very well have lost many many many men in a fight. Given how their massacre of Squad 1 was over in 3 minutes, things point to them not having much trouble.

These guys are strong, deal with it. 313
Indeed. Hopefully Sasikibe's death won't be the only one. That would be really shitty.
^ Nahh. People seem to be forgetting that Ulquiorra had managed to kill Ichigo with ease. He was dead for a few minutes or so until Kubo PIS kicked in to resurrect him. So it counts.
Also, I find it lulzy how Kubo trolled Sasakibe. Give him access to bankai, but have him use it only once offscreen
in his 1000+ year lifetime and in a battle against dudes that could suppress Bankais. Then make SS's medical staff incapable of healing his injuries. Lulz.

I didn't forget. Though I wasn't sure if it counted or not. Well since it does I guess that make this scene even more lame.
I also find it funny how Unohana found the time to heal an Arrancar and an exiled shinigami but was suddenly unavailable to heal rectonned badass Sasakibe.

How is Battle Angel Alita?I've heard some good things about it, but never a really detailed recommendation, and you recommended Negima to me and I didn't regret that lol.
It's good 🙂 I'll mention it's seinen rather than shounen fight, and is split into two series, Battle Angel Alita and Battle Angel Alita: Last Order.
In the first one, every volume or two it fast-forwards a bit, no 'status quo is god' stuff, things change. It takes place in the scrapyard, basically a giant slum city full of cyborgs. It's pretty violent and gory, but well done. A lot of the individual stories are very good.
Around the end of the original series the author got an often terminal illness, so he rushed a finish. Then he didn't die and in fact got better, so resumed the series starting at a point around 1/2 through the last volume and ignoring the original rushed end (which got a bit silly in places, but hey, the guy was dying). The second series has a much more conventional pacing, stuff takes place over many volumes. It also leaves the scrapyard for higher tech areas so the tech and power level increases (via stuff like, upgrading the cyborg bodies and weaponry). It also goes into why the world is why it is and Alita's origins more.
The first series was a true classic. Last Order is still quite good.
And the latest chapter just ended the longest series the story's ever had.
