It's not clear in a rigorous sense, as in a mathematical congruence. But it's clear as day from a writer's perspective.

No, not even from a narrative sense. A writer, especially one like Kishimoto, loves to play on the unexpected by building the obvious up to be the answer. Right now, Kishimoto is playing up the possibility that it's Obito so much that it genuinely feels like he'll pull the rug out from under us.

Conversely, Kishimoto is predicting this reaction because he's aware of his more genre savvy readers, and so will surprise us by showing that Tobi really is Obito.

Honestly, it's a win-win.

I was planning on making an analytical response to why your reasoning is flawed, but then I figured; why bother? I'll be proven right in a week anyway. Now, here we are one week later.

Hmph, rather presumptuous of you to assume that I'd allow you to get away with saying something like that. Read my post again: I was never against the possibility of him being Obito. It was a win move no matter what Kishimoto did. But, strictly speaking, we did not know who was beneath the mask until this week.

Of course, I probably appreciate it more than most.

It wasn't a win move on Kishimoto's part. There's not much to this reveal in terms of questions aside from how the punk survived. To which the answer is more than likely Madara.

It was indeed a win on his part. Appreciate it. If there is a single fan who stuck by the Obito theory up until this point, all of their perseverance has paid off. And anyone who laughed off the theory will be butthurt because they were wrong.

And then are people like me, who gave up on trying to figure out who Tobi was not long ago. The people who are just anticipating the reaction to the event more than the event itself.

Needless to say Kubo has to screw up rather bad to lose my vote this week.

So I'm getting you didn't think it was Obito?

He is half-scarred.

Hm, expecting flashback of what happened to Rin soon.

And wondering how he can be behind some of the early Tobi actions.

I was uncaring really. Once it started to heavily lean towards him being Obito, I became suspicious because it seemed like a setup to pulling the rug out from under us. And then I reasoned that Kishi might expect that reaction so he'd surprise us with it really being Obito. It could really have been anyone.

Needless to say, next week will have quite a bit of exposition.

"I remember that kick to my face you *******."

I don't care about the rest of the chapters this week....Naruto wins for the sheer amount of butthurt that is bound to come up 🙂

Bleach 505: 8/10
Naruto 599: 2/10
1. Naruto (revelation aside, we got some cool flashback stuff)
2. Bleach
3. Fairy Tail
4. One Piece

Naruto
Toriko
Bleach
One Piece

Bleach has been pretty good this arc.

Okay now that I've caught up on this week I agree with Q99's list. And damnit I still never got around reading Toriko.

Also why does One Piece suck so much. It's only had one or two good chapters for the past 4 months.

1. Naruto
2. Bleach
3. One Piece

Naruto was yeah.

Bleach was pretty awesome, though I have to admit I'm annoyed at everything related to Kenpachi being taken care of offscreen.

One Piece had one saving grace and it was the small interaction between Zoro and Tashigi.

One piece was boring again but next chapter promises to be good
Bleach was ****ing yamatastic
Naruto suprised no one.

1. One Piece.
2. Naruto.
3. Bleach

As it should be.

Yeah, Neph's list is mine too.

OP, while I don't think it had many noteworthy things to it, is setting up some climactic showdowns and gives us hints to Vergo's character development.

Naruto spent a bit too much time on the Obito flashback and if there isn't more to Obtio's reason than that, it'll be lame. But, Madara showing up at the end was awesome. He's just all "The **** is goin on here everybody? You all look like you're having fun!"

Bleach probably would have taken first if it hadn't been As Nodt being among the ones Yamamoto apparently killed. I mean come on, he was a cool villain and would have been entertaining to see more of. Also, wtf is up with the Bankai at the end? Are we just forgetting that they can steal it?

Yama is arrogant and stupid enough to just assume that they can't steal his Bankai. I mean he's been consistently this dumb and badly written. He has to be attacked with his underlings Bankai before being "angry" enough to actually step up his game. You'd think the dude being KILLED would offer enough of a motivation but no. (last weeks chapter was dumb as hell despite how decent it was)

But since they couldn't steal Ichigo he might be right. 😖igh:

I talked about this on another forum but imo Tobi's reason isn't dumb. I think its more what he took out of Rin's death. I mean he stepped up and tried to be a big hero and stick to his principles and got 'killed' for it. Then Kakashi stepped up and tried to be a big hero and Rin got killed despite it. Its pretty easy to see how he could start to think '**** it, this world is just broken.' Tobi's been going on for a while now about how worthless the world is as I recall.

Actually I kinda like how the Yamamoto thing was handled. I got the feeling that he was looking specifically for Driscoll and when he found him, wanted to see Sasikibe's Bankai one last time. When he found out it was so weak, it was to him like killing Sasikibe all over again. But that's just what I took from it. And yeah, his Bankai will probably be too much to seal.

Really, it's just the meh feeling I have about it. Seems like Obito was the sad type of person who tied every good feeling to one girl and when she died, that was it. It would make you cynical but wanting to mind control the entire world because of a loved one dying? Bit extreme there.
