STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Teachings of the Shaman

Can I use Force attacks while in the water?

If not, Azarl is going to try swimming away.

If so, Azarl will try to Grip the damn thing.

Nothing stops you from using your Will here, Azarl. You reach out with your mind and clutch something vital in the sea monster, causing it to shriek. Three successes puts it in a Grip and does 5 damage.

It flails about in the water but does not break your hold.

Azarl keeps squeezing the life out of the thing, unrelenting in his attempt to kill it so he can move on.

The creature thrashes the water, trying to slap you away from it as chokes... and it rolls three successes, matching your Force roll. It breaks free as you get slapped under the water.

Azarl is going to make for the shore. He can't fight this thing in the water. He gets above the surface and treads water even if this thing gets an attack on him.

Are you going to try swimming around the boulders that blocked your path, or are you going to the boulders and climb up on them?

I'm going to try swimming around it still. I'm going to risk the reflex attack.

You try to swim away... one success is not really enough to put some distance between yourself and the sea monster. It launches no reflex attack as it was recovering from your strangulating, but it catches up to you and tries to munch on you again.

You take 5 damage.

Azarl is going to make for the rock then. He can't just keep taking damage like this.

You take the reflex attack this time as you struggle back to the boulders. The creature isn't rolling very well; you take 5 damage.

You roll one success trying to reach the shore. One more and you're there!

The creature makes another attempt to devour you and deals 6 more damage.

Azarl keeps swimming for the rock! Once he gets there he will pull out the spear and shield he has on him, probably remembering it because is no longer preoccupied with frantic swimming.

You meet the roll this time! You scurry out of the water with many a splash. This seems to discourage the monster from pursuing you...

... but you sense you are not alone on the boulders.

Azarl definitely makes sure to pull out his spear and shield, then, and adopts a defensive position as he turns to face whatever new company he is receiving.

The thing you wanted to avoid has happened. A trio of Vudans carrying light circular shields and short metal swords are picking their way down the rocks toward you. The ruckus of fighting the sea monster and then clambering up into plain view on the rocks has exposed you.

The Vudans order you to drop your weapons. They wear the painted markings of the Vran.

Azarl does not lower his weapons.

"What will become of me if I do as you ask?" Azarl inquires, pulling his own shield up tight and keeping his spear poised, though he is not much of a fighter with it.

"You'll be arrested and brought to the city," one of the Vran says. "You'll stand trial for trespassing on our lands, Kaal."

"Then I'll keep my weapons, thank you," Azarl says, keeping his spear poised for combat and his shield in place.

Azarl just has Dodge & Weave after his 'make over' so put that in. Azarl will let them make the first move. Use Lifting if any of them throw their spears to deflect it.

Is Azarl entering combat with the three, then?

I don't see why not.

You brace yourself for combat, then, something you have never been comfortable in. The Vran soldiers, trained and vicious, are moving down the rocky slope toward you, two turns distant. They carry short swords, which they twirl idly as they prepare to fight, and shields that they hold before them.

Your position is precarious; you can only move forward from where you are, toward the Vran, or jump down into the water.
