STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Diplomacy

The battle droid emits a series of buzzing noises that sound sort of like a dial-up modem being run through a dishwasher, before opening fire. You deflect the bolts into the floor.

Jelena won't wait for it to try shooting her again. She strides forward and chops the droid cleanly in half with a horizontal swipe.

Whum! It falls in two.

And you find another one right behind it, which shoots at you in kind. You take 1 damage as you narrowly deflect the bolt, this time into the ceiling, showering you in sparks.

"What is the meaning of this?!" shouts Director Van Statten, pounding a fist on the table. His attendants scramble for cover behind whatever they can find, while he stands up and points at Senator Dodd. "Are those Federation droids?!"

"I don't... I..." Dodd sputters.

"How did you get a sword in here?!" Van Statten then yells at you. "What the hell kind of security set up do we even have? KARLA, FIRE THEM ALL!"

His secretary is not exactly paying attention, cowering under the meeting table.

The Mantooinian and Festan parties both stir, immediately separating from each other and moving for cover. There is only so much. Hardrew calls for everyone to remain calm, while Senators Nide-Fals and Lobs exchange a heated conversation.

Another droid marches in behind the one that just shot you...

"Can anyone handle a blaster?" Jelena asks of those with her. She expects Van Statten (based on his brashness) or Vimus from Mantooine. She will employ an orthodox stance and rely on the Force to perfect her timing in deflecting bolts.

If anyone can, she will use the Force to snatch the blaster up from the first droid and throw it to them.

She does not deign Van Statten with a response.

"Here!" Vimus says, pushing past Senator Lobs. You pass the Force check to chuck the blaster to him and he catches it easily.

You can bat aside those blasts without looking, but another droid marches in. Three opponents total, and you can sense more coming.

Jelena will employ Orthodox Guard and Bodyguard, apply it to Senator Vimus.

"We need to protect everyone," Jelena says. "Can I count on you?"

Vimus dramatically charges the blaster carbine. He looks at the weapon with disgust but readies himself to use something so clearly unsophisticated.

"Certainly," Vimus says.

You have one main entrance into the meeting room and some side entrances. Currently, the droids only enter through the main entrance, one at a time.

"Shut them off!" Van Statten shouts at Lott Dod and his retinue.

Lott Dod pulls out a comlink and starts fiddling with it.

Jelena will not hesitate to attack the next droid, cleaving it cleanly in three with her blades.

"Secure the other entrances!" Jelena shouts. "Get some tables over the doors, or jam them with chairs!"

6-1 to Jelena and company. Whum-crack! You destroy a droid without much problem.

Vimus lightly squeezes the trigger on his commandeered blaster carbine and sprays a bunch of lasers into one of the droids. You think he prefers something more refined. His bodyguards team up on the last droid, knocking it down and pulling it apart.

Hardrew responds to your call, trying to drag the banquet table toward one of the entrances. It is too heavy for him alone.

Another droid enters.

Lott Dod continues to fiddle with his comlink. He looks frustrated.

Can Jelena shut the door letting the droids in? Would Lifting let her slide the table against the doors?

She will Bodyguard and Coordination one of Vimus' guard and instruct them to arm up with dropped blasters. She lets Vimus handle the droid coming in.

You could make a Lifting roll to help Hardrew move the table. You would forego Bodyguarding.

Jelena will do so!

And use Coordination since I'm not protecting anyone.

Evens of 6-6 favors the Jedi, who reaches out with her mind and seizes the banquet table as Hardrew tries to drag it. As you can imagine, it is very heavy, but between the two of you (and a solid four successes from Jelena), it will be in place next turn and block the door to the north.

Vimus' bodyguards arm up with the dropped droid carbines, while Vimus tries to blast down a droid and only dings it.

"Damnable piece of junk..." Vimus snarls, slapping the weapon.

Jelena takes two shooters and Vimus takes one. Vimus sidesteps the droid's clumsy blast, while Jelena, focused on her task, takes two hits for 6 damage.

"I can't get through!" Lott Dod panics.

Anything I can block the other door with?

Nothing so effective as that huge table.

Hmm okay. Jelena tells Vimus' bodyguards to take cover and Bodyguards Vimus himself, deflecting any bolts coming toward herself or her ward, then whipping a blade forward and cutting down one of the droids.

"How do we shut them off, then?" Jelena asks Lott Dod, after dismantling the droid.

1-2, the droids manage to get shots off before they can be suppressed. You must not have brought your full attention to the fight after lifting that table, as you take a hit for 3 damage. They miss Vimus. One of his guards takes a hit.

Another droid marches in with a "Roger, roger."

Vimus shoots down the droid he damaged on two successes. You show him up by cutting a droid in three with your twinned sabers, rolling six successes.

Vimus' bodyguards take cover, trusting you to protect him.

"They can only be shut off from the Control Ship!" Lott Dod shouts. "There's no other way!"

"So how do we talk to them?" Jelena asks as she brings her lightsabers down in a destructive power blow through the next droid.

3-4, the droids shoot first. Jelena displays some talent for the defensive arts by deflecting all lasers from herself and Vimus. She then tears down one droid and leaves the other for the Mantooine Senator.

"Confounded weapon!" Vimus snarls when he fails to bring down his target again. One of his bodyguards finishes it off for him.

The other mimics the Senator's shot on the droid that just entered through the front door.

Another droid enters through the side...
