That doesn't diminish the importance of saber skills. There are also Dooku's own words on this ;

Saber always the important one here, you can block a force lightning attack with a saber or you can dodge from force attacks via agility, etc. And that is why Mace can challenge to the Emperor or Yoda while clearly his force powers are not on par with them, or Sidious and Plagueis had to learn high level lightsaber skills despite their opinions on lightsaber combat.

No one's underrating the importance of saber skills. However, if a person can hold his own against their opponent, their superiority in using the force will allow them to gain victory.

Just ignore him, Sinious. He holds no credibility anyway. He forgets dueling is dictated by ones command of the Force. 😬

If there's not a sufficient difference in force abilities, then it won't make a difference.

But look at Dooku defeating Ventress and Kenobi Via Tk because they were posing a challenge to him in Sabers.

Also look at Maul putting Kenobi down with Tk more than once, and they are also peers in Sabers.

Opress also overpowered Adi Gallia with a Force push, while she was holding her own in Sabers.

Heck even Yoda and Sidious's fight came down to a Force Contest.

There's just too many examples of Force Powers being the deciding factor.

Although, I do remember when I said that Maul wouldn't stomp Kit Fisto you accused me of being a covert Kit Fisto fanboy and that I'm only pretending to like Maul so I can push my own agenda of fanboyism.
