Well, it seems like Adelmo's MO is to either leave no trace or blow the whole thing up. The burn marks seem to follow neither. Also, how do we know Kazan never went back for the scrolls? Could he have, but decided to leave them be for some reason?
He might have though that they needed to stay hidden.
It's part of the (admittedly scanty) record of the wars that Kazan went to get the Scrolls (amongst many other things) for Malphas, but Malphas never got them.
There are only two broad reasons why this might be so- either Kazan didn't want to retrieve them or he couldn't. The first is hard to fathom (if they were so pant-wettingly scary that even a Sith that destroyed worlds feared them, he would have destroyed them), but the second seems odd- why hide them somewhere you can't get to?
The burn marks, meanwhile, speak to someone's particular tactic.

There are absolutely no records or clues about the Malphan wars here at all- the world was levelled at the time and re-built. Which is not to say there was absolutely nothing to be found- seeing as Adelmo and co DID find the site in the end- but they would have snaffled all that info by now.
