Also, reexamining my abilities - Gallagher actually heals 20 damage with a Revitalize due to his power of Awareness and attuning to the Force. So that places Gallagher at 28 damage.

Gallagher will also spend some time pondering his vision. Before embarking on this quest, before they even met with Alik Saar, he saw scraps and pieces of the possible future that lay before them. He muses that the location of the other piece of the Scrolls of Bandomino may be guarded, and maybe has been for some time, considering Darth Kazan never recovered them.
I'm not sure what to make of your vision, but I think the last line means we should be straight up and honest when the time comes, as opposed to trying to arrive incognito and pretend we aren't Jedi as we sometimes do.

I agree.

Jedi? Who, us?

Nawwww, can't be.

Then who?

...

But yes, Gallagher feels much the same. We boldly go forth!

Gallagher- I can confirm you have not yet seen the planet from your vision. Nor is it any planet you recognise.

Ok, you guys get working. The problem is, what you basically have here is a massive data string dump- long strings of symbols, numbers and text, half of which won't load properly (depending on your Fix-It rolls) and are corrupted. The text is in a variety of languages. It also comes from pretty much the entirety of the siege and comes from the base logs for every single day, so it is enormous- more than all of you could reasonably read in a week when scanning, let alone in detail. What you have not been able to do is organise it properly by topic or date- you just have 'stuff'.

I'll make relevant rolls for you as need be, but what you need is a way to get to the sort of thing you are looking for (you may wish to review the situation Kazan was in at the time, what he did and why). This is a relatively logical issue rather than a lore one- to be clear, at no point anywhere in the text does anything approaching the terms 'Bandomino', 'scrolls' or 'ancient Sith weapon of doom' turn up. Nor Syphar n Kalar.

Will we all be able to contribute in a variety of ways, or do we each contribute one skill? And can we each build off of each other?

For example, Jelena could be able to help in Jedi Lore, Language, and Fix-It; can she do all three when working on this? Or does she need to pick one?

And Andro, Roan, and Denzral are our best Fix-It folk; can they all use their skills to help break things down?

As far as searching for things, I wouldn't imagine Kazan would put 'I SENT THE ANCIENT SCROLLS HERE' anywhere in the report. We need to look for when he shot off the escape pod that then buried itself somewhere far away.

(Gallador can help you, feel free to call) 😛

(Hah! Just call 1800 DARKIES-R-US?)

Here's what we know (or at least I can remember or find information about):

1. Darth Kazan was sent to Alambritis by Darth Malphas for reasons unknown, however he came into possession of the scrolls before, or possibly during his time there.

2. The planet wound up under siege by the Republic, so Kazan was trapped and he was losing.

3. He managed to get in contact with some form of smugglers who helped him ship off sensitive cargo (Including the scrolls) to places unknown.

4. The siege, to everyone's surprise, ended with Kazan's victory.

I'm not sure if I've missed anything else we've been told.

Can we look for references about departures or cargo loading in the data?

You can all contribute in a variety of ways but I'll only let each person use each of his skills once. so once you make A Fix-it roll, you can't personally use Fix-It again (though others can and you can still use other skills).

3 is probably the most important thing to remember.

Okay, so we should try come up with ideas we can do with what skills and have our best work on those areas.

Few ideas:

Fix it; remove corrupted data, make a simple program to sift through the data and (possibly) categories it,

Languages; translate the alien portions of the data into galactic standard, search through the data for keyworks in a language other than galactic standard.

Observation; manually go through the data to find certain keywords.

That's all I can think of right now. I'll wait to see what everyone else has to say/add before I decide what Wentar will do.

What kind of words/terms are you looking for?

I can think of lots, but I'll try keep it down to a few. Departures, blockade, off world, unregistered cargo or smuggle are the sort of terms I think we should be looking at.

We'll probably get lots of different things, but if we can spot any overlap between these terms it will help spot references to the smugglers who took the scroll off Alambritis.

We could also look for payment information. Malphas would have had to pay people to smuggle things.

Also he would have had to have people hired to move the cargo and deal with it, not just the smugglers. Might be a way in, that way.

I'll make the first fix it roll in order to get as much of the data into a usable format as possible. Removing corrupted bits, loading the uncorrupted ones, all that technical stuff.

Just throwing this in - but in order to smuggle precious cargo off the world during a blockade, perhaps there was some kind of diversion?

Or a major battle/engagement going on at the time when the smuggler was able to bypass the opposing forces?

So perhaps we should also look at the data when the fighting was it's fiercest, if that is possible.

I doubt anyone used the term Smuggled or unregistered in an official record, but in addition to those above how about:

Bills of Lading
Transfer
Notice of Payment
Receipts
Purchase Orders

If we can see what kind of shipments came and went, maybe something our of the ordinary might pop up. Perhaps more office supplies than a company can use in a year, big box of hammers, extra cafeteria shipments, stuff like that.

Unfortunately, trying to trace the financials doesn't quite work. This is for two reasons- first of all, Kazan was running a war and not a business and he wasn't really into detailed financial transactions etc- even less so when stuck in a siege where he wouldn't have access to any money.

But the second reason is just as true today as ever- if you play illicit smugglers to do secret work, it's not on the record. You don't pay them with electronic funds or standard credits either- you pay under the table with something more 'real'.

It's entirely possible Kazan already had the smugglers as a resource. Unfortunately very little is known in detail about the Malphan wars and you certainly have no access to any detailed information on the siege of Alambritis.

(There's a slight hint from me in this post)

Would there be any records of individuals on Kazan's side leaving the planet?

Due to the blockade I'm guessing very few made it through and got out.

Maybe hints of operations or preparations to get a certain ship off the planet? A record of soldiers/individuals leaving the planet and not coming back?

I think I found it!
He would have had to pay them with something valuable then, a collection of valuable goods might show up somehow.

Or gold, even? Can't get more valuable and real than that, when it comes to paying people.

Can R3-U9 help with Fix-It rolls?

Xeth doesn't have many skills to apply here; he can help with Observation if needed.
