Yeah even with the release of Spider-Man it's still making money.. So it's defo going to cross the $700mill mark.
At $703 million now, as of last weekend. 👆
The most popular Marvel heroes right now have to be:
1. Iron Man
2. Spider Man
3. Captain America
4. Thor
5. Wolverine/The X-Men

Think about how much money Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 would've made had they been just as good as Captain America 2? Marvel really needs tighter plots, good villains, and more epic fights in their movies that was lacking in the first two movies of Phase 2.

Which villains for IM would you use?

Iron Man 3 was one of the biggest hits ever, grossing $1.3 billion. Well above Captain America: The Winter Soldier's $700 million. Don't get me wrong, I think The Winter Soldier was a better film, but I'm not hung up on the Mandarin business that other fans can't let go of. And Thor: The Dark World managed to gross in the same ball park as The Winter Soldier (though the first Thor was better, overall.) I don't think the Phase 2 Marvel films prior to TWS have as much a problem as say, the Spider Man movies, in being overstuffed and too loosely plotted.

IM3's box office success is akin to Spider-Man 3's box office success Imho. In that they were always going to be HUGE due to previous movies really building up the excitement for the franchise. But then when you look at DVD/BLU-RAY Sales MOS beat IM3 by a fair margin (for example) even though MOS did half as well (literally) as IM3 at the pictures.
Honestly I think if Thor: The Dark World was as good a film as CA:TWS, then it would have come close the Billion mark. Thor and Loki are both extremely popular characters.
