One hit from Ares not holding back would more than likely shatter Vader's...everything. The only people who withstood multiple hits from him were gods, Haphaestus(A fallen God with some Godly energy left) and Perseus(a Demi-God).
And as a full fledged God, he probably has energy projection powers like those shown by Zeus and Hades.

You're missing the point as usual; so I'll explain it to you as I always have to do. Choking puts Ares out of commission; Vader has Force-Choke, there's an easy in for Vader right there. Not that Vader would need to, could just dodge a swing and decapitate him with his sabre, easy as that.
This was a poor match-up, deal with it and move on. Vader wins. Not the first time you've watched a shitty film; went balls deep for it and then starting ranting over mediocre characters.
Choking only put him out of commission because he was stabbed, like Ninjak said and Ares hadn't been getting his daily dose of prayers since Perseus revealed him to all the soldiers. And Ares has been fighting for millenia, if someone's tried to choke him before, it obviously didn't do any lasting damage.
But Ares can just use his AoE ground attack to knock Vader off his feet, or swing much faster than Vader can and break his bones.

Choking works as seen, so Vader could just choke him into submission(as Perseus did) with the Force and then 'stab' him with his lightsabre right after.
Are we assuming that Ares is more powerful here and can do more than was shown in the films cos of prayers?
That ground-pound move sent a 130lbs woman back with little to no sustaining damage, Vader with his battle precog and his superior reflexes will be prepared and will attack first. Ares is definitely physically stronger than Vader, he's not faster, watch the end-battle of Ep3.
