You make it sound like Thanos just waltzed into the Cancerverse, shrugged off Lord Mar-Vell's best, and overwhelmed him. That's not what happened at all.

Thanos let Mar-Vell kill (or nearly) kill him, because that would allow Death to enter his universe, and Death killed him.

Nearly is the word, he was still speaking telling Marvell to get on with it and was nowhere near close to death.

And the gaping hole in his torso, death does nothing to aid him. She kills Marvell, Thanos confronts her and then she leaves

Because she made him immortal... if the plan to bring Death into the universe by letting Thanos die or get near to Death didn't work, Thanos would have lost completely. It was Mistress Death that beat Mar-Vell and the Cancerverse, not Thanos. And that tactic is not applicable here, because Death is not fighting on Thanos' side against Zeus.

Immortal didnt do anything with regards to the whole in his chest.

As Avatar of Death Thanos power came from death as Marvells came from the Elder gods of the Cancerverse, so as Avatar everything that came with it applies here barring death turning up

If Death hadn't turned up, Thanos would be screwed. Just as he is screwed against Zeus.

If Thanos hadnt submitted he would of beat down Marvell, without the sword Marvell couldnt do anything to Thanos

So Marvell couldnt get ko'd then.

And Death was already in the cancerverse before she arrived, Thanos was Death thats why the Cancerverse Defenders died when Thanos blasted them
